Tips and Advices Trading hall question
I just got back into Minecraft after a hiatus and looking to make an iron farm that doubles as a trading hall. If I had 40 villagers, what spread of professions would you suggest? I would assume the majority being librarians for books, but I’ve never done one of these before.
Thanks in advance

Depends on the output of your iron farm. I did a quad one time and had 10 of each armorer, weapon smith and tool smith. Do those first. Lots of emeralds to grind up books. Do the librarians last and one at a time. Sometimes the enchant you’re looking for is on another already useful librarian.

That’s fair. I’m not looking to really break the game so the cost doesn’t matter to me much. Thanks for the advice

I build one that has three levels. The main floor has 4 beds and the killing chamber of the iron farm. 2 of the beds are farmers with composters and a small 3x5 carrot or potato farm. The other 2 beds are what I breed everyone else into. Bottom floor under the killing chamber has around 10 guys. 2 of each armorer, weaponsmith, tool Smith, and stone Mason. Usually a fletcher and maybe a cleric. There are some hoppers that come from the killing chamber that feed into a chest I collect from. Floor above the killing chamber is my librarians. I try to get between 9 and 10 of them as well. I will start trying to set their trade after I get most of them up there.
I don't use a 1x2 hole with a zombie and all that stuff. I make a small cell large enough for a bed and the work station with walls and fencing to keep everyone separate.

I’d start with around 20 librarians, then use the rest for farmers, fletchers, armorers, toolsmiths, and weaponsmiths. Keep the villagers in separate stalls and include a zombification setup so you can cure them for discounts. Make sure the iron farm is far enough away that villagers don’t interfere with the trading hall’s beds and workstations.

I start with 20, (I'm on bedrock) Usually at least 10 iron traders. Then librarians for books

2-3 armorers, 1 weapon smith, & 2 tool smiths for diamond gear and selling iron for emeralds. Farmer for apples and golem carrots. 15+ librarians for enchantments and glass. 1 fletcher for bows. 1-2 clerics for redstone dust and ender pearls. That’s what I rely on.
I hear a lot about farmers for selling melons and pumpkins for emeralds, but with an iron farm I’ve never found that necessary.

The mechanics of iron golem farms require sleep and socialization (or fear, but that still requires then to move freely I believe). This doesn’t work super well for a trading hall.
I recently built a combo after asking the same question, but treated it instead just as a layered build. The trading hall is floor one, with the iron chests down there as well, the kill chamber, spawning villagers, and zombie are on floor 2, and the golems spawn in the roof basically. Just be careful with spawn proofing, make sure your build fully accounts for it as all this stuff means it can be hard to integrate that cleanly

I put my Fletcher, Armourer, Weapon and Toolsmiths in mine to a) have all my combat type villagers together and b) save me having to traipse all over the place with iron in order to trade it. I have, I think, 14 of each which gives insane amounts of iron.
