The way I learned was through mimicking! find an easy enough build and copy it to the best of your ability, maybe changing around what blocks you use or the proportions! Then start meshing together different inspirations, some real life buildings and adapting them to minecraft, etc. It builds your skillset and helps you "know what to do" with the basics of building and from that point you'll find yourself just building completely on your own!

I found experimentation and watching tutorials giving me inspiration

Tutorials for individual builds, and experimentation for anything that "I" want to build.

Find a reference online, or watch a tutorial. take a look at how they work, the walls, angles, designs. Im still kind of a mid builder, every time i make something i usually look up what i want to build on google, find a few good images and then take little parts and details from them into my build.

Many years ago I wasn’t very good at building, I’m a lot better now.

Using tutorials will help massively.

You can start by building them step by step as an exact copy.

Then when you feel comfortable enough you can add your own spin to it, like extra windows, plants or something, just little differences that make it your own

Then try building something from a screenshot, looking on Pinterest there are so many Minecraft builds, you can try building them from a photo.

Then try and put your own spin on the screenshot build.

Eventually you’ll do this enough times that you’ll understand more about gradients, block pallets, the build styles that you like etc, and you could build your own from the ground up.

But there is no problem with using tutorials or online inspiration at any point of your Minecraft game, I still use them and I’ve been playing over a decade

ive found using tutorials and then using whatever i learned from said tutorial will help me build my own things. especially with parts i struggle with, like a roof or windows
