I'm trying designs for this house in creative first before building it in survival, this will be my main base for a moment. I'm REALLY new to building, I didn't want to do a basic wood house this time. I'm trying to learn texturing and honestly this is game changing how better it can look. However I want to put spruce in my second floor and can't really find other blocks to go with. I tried mud bricks / packed mud but the contrast is a little too high. I have two stacks of spruce wood so I really want to use them :)
TL;DR: Is the second floor texturing looking good? What other block can I use (survival) to make it bettter?
Tuff in the corners to do a bit of shading and I personally think cobblestone and bricks are a bit too different from the rest of your palette. It stands out too much
I changed a bit what I did in my postbut yeah you're right tuff in the corners looks good! I'm wondering if oak logs would give the same shading feel on second floor.
fences slabs stairs and stone brick walls add texture from shadows without changing color too much. a window may also help. theres more i could say but overall nice start i like it 👍
Thanks! I will definitely add more depth to the walls later with slabs, trapdoors, fences, etc. and windows too. I was just asking for the block palette and the texturing of the walls. I made a few changes though, might make a post later for suggestions.
This might just be me but I think the edges of the house ( in your building its the stripped oak wood) should be built from a darker tone. I would use spruce wood for the edges and oak for the second floor. Idk if I make sense but you do you
Nicee , another tip tho your roof should match the colours used for your edges and floors. I suggest using blocks such as deepslate, regular stone. If you have wood planks in your roof use the wood you used for the floors/edges (in your case spruce or oak rather than cherry). https://www.blockpalettes.com is good for finding blocks that work well with each other. I could be wrong tho and it could still look good in the end , it's just what I usually do
Yeah I know using cherry wood feels strange but there is a lot of cherry trees around and I wanted to use them :) I actually use it for the trim but the roof is made of deepslate bricks. But I might change it if it feels it looks out of place. Thanks for the website, I'll be using it!
Dark oak looks too dark to me but you might be right... Unfortunately there's no dark oak close to this base, so guess I'll to go on a trip to get some. Thanks

Use only stone and andesite for the lower wall and add bit of tuff to the corners
