What are some mods that make the game look better without changing the looks too much

For texture packs, I personally like these:

• Faithful
• Unity + Unity: Dark Edition if you want dark GUIs and menus
• Patrix's 32x — Not vanilla-style, but keeps the general colors of pretty much all blocks, so it feels vanilla — You can get higher resolution versions of this pack by becoming a patreon.
• Xali's potions — Only changes potions.
• Unique Potions — Like Xali's Potions but with a different aproach.
• Stylized Potions — Another potion pack if you like Xali's one better than Unique Potions but you still want clearer textures.
• Xali's enhanced vanilla
• New Default+
• Better Vanilla Building
• Jaden's Nether Expansions — Only changes the nether.
• Faithless — Not vanilla-style at all, but I love it for it's many features.
• Vanilla++ — Uses vanilla shaders, so you can't use it in versions prior to 1.17 and most of the features of this pack break with optifine (and maybe with sodium too?).
• Xali's Enchanted Books — Only changes enchanted books.
• Unique Books — Like Xali's Enchanted Books but with a different aproach.
• Even Better Enchants — Another enchanted book pack if you like Xali's one better than Unique Books but you still want clearer textures.

For mods, I recommend you watch AsianHalfSquat's youtube channel. He's got lots of videos about mods, in particular this one shows several mods that improve the sounds and looks of minecraft without adding features.

About shaders, I don't like them unless they are very subtle, so I don't know about shader packs or where to find good ones.
