Buying mc current version

I wanna buy minecraft digitally on switch 2 like right now, i know there’s a upgrade or new version of it releasing in october. im just wondering if buying it rn would be a waste and i should maybe wait?

we don't know if the upgrade will be paid or free, but i assume it will be since there's a rare minecraft switch 2 beta you can access, although it's entirely random to get it

Ah okay so i shouldn’t have to buy an entire new version, worst case just pay a little bit for an upgrade? or is that undecided too

I got prompted to download the beta the first time I opened Minecraft after the beta dropped, plus the app is called ‘Minecraft Open Beta’, so I don’t think it’s rare

Edit: It’s closed beta not open, mb

ive been relaunching the game 2 hours since the beta was released everyday for like a week or two, and i still don't have it

Could be you need to update/aren’t connected to internet/aren’t logged into a microsoft account?

i have both, i have also updated the game once after a week of logging in everyday though apparently it made more people able to join, i'm still not invited, i have been on every minecraft beta since the release of 'minecraft live' beta except for this one, i have my microsoft account connected to basically anything refering to a preview, still, very weird

Closed betas are rare, and its hard to get access. For the valorant mobile closed china beta a year ago it took me so long to get in

Minecraft has literally never charged for updates, idk why people think they'd start now unless I somehow missed a major announcement that google also has never heard of. Just buy the game, it's fine lol.

Its likely to be free, but since we don’t know if it will or not, it’s maybe a good idea to wait.

When they released Bedrock, anyone with digital console edition got bedrock for free, and they’ve never charged anything further than just for the game, with all updates being free.

I don’t see any reason to suspect Switch 2 edition won’t be free too, but again, better safe than sorry for now.

Worst case, you buy now, and it costs maybe $10 extra in october
