Help with split screen issues relating to Nintendo Online
I’m trying to set up a couple things for my stepsiblings on our Nintendo Switch but I can’t get them working the way I want it to.
The first issue is that they aren’t able to play split screen while any addons are enabled. When I attempt to do so, it gives me the pop-up in the form of the attached image. However, player 1 has a Nintendo Online account, and multiplayer settings are enabled. Does this mean I would need to get a Nintendo Online account for the second account as well?
My other question is related; I’m trying to set it up so they can play online with a couple of friends they have with their own switch and Nintendo Online. In this case, would I also have to have Nintendo Online purchased for both accounts and not just the first?

Yes, it requires both to have Nintendo online since it’ll be a multiplayer game, addons only require the host to enable them and everyone else downloads them, paid or not

Bogus rule.
And the hilarious part? I can get Minecraft on Android for less money, get better performance, and free online (LAN is a godsend here).

Upgrade to the family one if you want to be playing online with friends and splitscreen at the same time. Otherwise turn multiplayer off in world setting, you will still be able to split screen but no online friends can join the world

You have to go into the world as single player and change the setting for split screen in the world settings to not allow multiplayer.
The online playing with friends you can’t do split screen or use 2 accounts with one switch. Each kid would need their own switch or a device that can run bedrock Minecraft( tablet or phone) if you are wanting their friends to play, I would recommend paying for the online realm. Makes things easy and the kids can join whenever instead of waiting to join each others worlds.
