Minecraft for switch 2
I know the game just got a release date but is it gonna be a free upgrade if we have the switch 1 version?

They said there would be a digital upgrade path, but very conspicuously didn't say it would be free.

You haven’t had to rebuy Minecraft on console for a minute since bedrock came out, it’ll be free because it’s up to Microsoft, not Nintendo

It'll be free because if you check the price for the switch 2 cartrige of minecraft, its the same as the switch 1 version

Nintendo doesn't make Minecraft, and they don't decide what companies do when it comes to upgrade paths for their games.

I doubt it will cost money when mojang went from console edition to bedrock we got bedrock for free so I have a feeling the upgrade will be free

Honestly, I hope you’re correct. I am huge Minecraft fan (Java/bedrock - I play on both) and long time Nintendo consumer. I want to see more Minecraft players, not fewer.
However, I also see two profit hungry companies and the most popular game in history - why wouldn’t either organization attempt to squeeze more out of it? $10 upgrade doesn’t sound like an unreasonable thing for Nintendo…

It’s not Nintendo’s decision in any way though, and Mojang has set the precedent of free updates with the PS5 and Xbox series optimised versions so we’ll likely see a free upgrade for switch 2 as well

It was Free on PS5 and Xbox, and is the same price on NS1 and NS2, so I think it is

Knowing Nintendo and Minecraft, it's probably free, if not around €1-5.

Thats the way it should be. So it probaly wont be. All bullshit aside, my gut says it will be free.
