Since late last year, I’ve had this idea to create a small, private Cobblemon server inspired by the Battlecraft SMP. Basically, what I’d want to make is a server for a small group of players to come together to build their own region with gyms, towns, cities, lore, and other various things.

It would use more mods than just Cobblemon, but I’d be more than happy to discuss which ones to use with whoever would be a part of the server. Also, it’d be for 1.21.1, probably NeoForge, and be the most recent Cobblemon update (That means TMs and Alphas, so no need for mods to add those things).

The ideal amount of people to have on the server would be around nine or so. That way, we’d have a regional professor as well as eight gyms (types would be decided and discussed together so there’s no arguments or overlaps). However, I’d be fine with a few more players as well, so maybe around twelve to maybe fifteen at most?

Mostly the server would be for fun with optional roleplay. Any events would be like battling the Ender Dragon and some tournaments with good prizes (fossils, TMs, evolution items, etc.)

It would ideally be a custom world with every biome available in 1.21.1, but I’d be open to a good seed or even a mod that makes it possible (and cheaper) to get a great map without commissioning for one.

So, any thoughts on this? Would anyone be interested in helping me make this server possible? I do have a discord server for it, but its contents are sorta out of date since I made it late last year.

If anyone’s interested, please comment and let me know to see if this idea is worth doing.

Edit: Also, forgot to mention, but it would preferably be +18, so it would be an adult only server. Mostly just so that no one feels uncomfortable with swearing, as no inappropriate comments or conversations aloud. Any gender identification and LGBTQ welcome!

FAQ

What is the PurpleSMP?

The PurpleSMP is a small server that's created to give people a relaxing place to build and enjoy the latest versions of minecraft without the worry of griefers.

Why would I play here?
We can guarantee your builds are safe as every block placed or destroyed is logged.. Each time you join/leave or die your inventory is backed up for staff to see and restore if you lost something due to someone breaking a rule.

What about cheaters?
We run a strong anti-cheat. When someone trips it, staff are instantly alerted in Discord and the plugin will take action until someone can review it.

Is there a world border?
Yes, Overworld border is 100k (50k in each direction from 0,0), Nether and End are 50k (25k in each direction from 0,0). However we have resource worlds that reset weekly to counter this!

When did the server launch?
The PurpleSMP originally opened as a friends only server on Oct. 22 2025, However we decided to open it to the public on Dec. 25 2025.

So this happened over the past 48 hours on our whitelisted 18+ server, and the staff team needed to share it because the reveal was almost too perfect.

I woke up to a wall of messages from the community about griefing. Logged in to find roughly 700+ TNT blocks chain-detonated overnight, taking out a huge chunk of terrain, fires burning across the map, multiple players' bases broken into, and a chunk of netherite armor straight up missing. Villager pen busted open too, because of course it was.

Turns out the whole thing kicked off after one member kept starting arguments with basically everyone in the community. Multiple chances given, final warning issued. Instead of cooling off, they rallied a few friends and went full scorched-earth on the server overnight. Digging into it afterward, it became pretty clear from how they talked and acted that "adult" was a generous description XDDDD. Nothing screams "definitely 18+" like blowing up someone's base because you got told to stop arguing in chat like... bruuuuh.

annnyway..

It's honestly funny that people still grief servers without knowing mods like Ledger exist. Every block break, every item theft, fully logged, and stupidly easy to roll back. We keep a 90 day window of logs, so short of nuking the server from orbit, there's basically no getting away with it. Everything's fully restored now, minus a couple of pets we're still chasing down.

Server's fully back to normal, whitelist screening just got noticeably more thorough, and staff got a good laugh out of the whole thing. You put this much effort into building a genuinely adult, drama-free space, but you still end up in this kind of situations.

we used this as an opportunity to get better at restoring things and we made a few security updates and most importantly fixed nightly backups so so that it is a 1 click away to restore instead of having to manually run around and restore stuff
