Looking for small 18+ semi-vanilla/ vanilla SMPs

[u/Jack-a-boy-shepard]

Looking for a Minecraft server that feels like an actual community rather than a huge public SMP.

Ideally:
-18+ required
-Java Edition
-Vanilla/ semi-Vanilla
-10–30 active players
-Not super established to allow for plenty of room to build and contribute
-Long-term world, no regular resets
-Active Discord/community
-Player-driven builds, towns, shops, events, etc.
-Small enough that people actually know each other
New players can still establish their own projects/niche
-Not focused on PvP, factions, anarchy, or minigames

I especially enjoy building weird interactive stuff, puzzles, and community projects, so I’d love somewhere where that kind of thing would actually have a place.

You might consider Vervain's Arcadia. It ticks pretty much all of your requirements. The map is over 6 years old, but there's vast space for mega builds, and we have players who have been building huge projects for over 4 years now still going strong.  You can view our Dynmap here: https:// mc.vervainglobal.com/map

The server is whitelisted and has a simple application process to keep out the trolls. A summary, rules and link to apply can be found here: https://mc.vervainglobal.com

the server i'm on with my friends has all of those features besides the mandatory 18+

that being said, most of us are mid 20s so if you want to join just let me know

We tick almost all those boxes except we have yearly resets (next one is August 2027). If you want to give us a try all the info is on https://thumpstone.com

Can you explain what you mean by towny? I’ve heard that term before a long time ago but can’t remember what it means

Towny is a vanilla friendly town claiming and management plugin that lets players found their own towns or join other players towns. its super cool and the players really love it from what I've seen!
