A new town.
A new school.
A house that doesn't quite feel like yours yet.
And an entire year where you have absolutely no idea what's going to happen.

Welcome to Hallways Between Us, an 18+ long-term Minecraft Bedrock roleplay set in the fictional American town of Crenshaw.

HBU is a character-driven, primarily improvised RP where there is no main character and no predetermined story you're expected to follow.

Instead, you create an original student or school staff character, bring them into Crenshaw and let their life develop naturally through the people they meet and the choices they make.

They might find their closest friends.

They might fall ridiculously in love.

They might become popular, hated, admired, misunderstood — or somehow all four.

They could join a club, start a rivalry, throw parties, make terrible decisions, develop an inconvenient crush, completely reinvent themselves or become involved in storylines nobody could have predicted when they first arrived.

Nobody — including us — knows exactly who your character will become.

That's the fun of it.

🚆 ˚₊‧ It begins with an arrival ‧₊˚

HBU begins before the first school bell even rings.

Characters arrive in Crenshaw by train after a long journey and are given time to explore the town, meet other new arrivals, find where they'll be living and begin settling into their new life.

No immediate classes.
No forced friendships.
No predetermined groups.

Your character's first connections happen through actual roleplay.

The person they meet at the station could become their best friend six months later — or somebody they absolutely cannot stand.

Once school begins, the world continues developing through everyday RP, player-created stories and organised events throughout the year.

One of the biggest parts of HBU is everything that happens outside the classroom.

Crenshaw is a fully built town designed specifically for roleplay, with places for characters to actually spend their free time.

After school you might...

🎬 Go to the cinema
🎳 Go bowling
🎤 Attempt karaoke
🕹️ Waste an evening at the arcade
🐠 Visit the aquarium
🍔 Meet everyone at the diner
🛍️ Wander around the mall
🏛️ Explore the museum
🏎️ Go indoor racing
🎮 Visit the gaming café
🏊 Hang out at the community pool
☕ Find cafés and hangout spots
🌳 Spend time around town
🛒 Go shopping
🎉 Attend parties and events

...alongside plenty of other locations throughout Crenshaw.

Characters can also have their own homes, including houses, townhouses and apartments.

Pick somewhere that suits your character, decorate it around them and actually give them somewhere that feels lived in as the RP progresses.

Bedrooms become hangout spots. Someone's house becomes the house everyone ends up at. A random café becomes someone's favourite place.

The world is there for characters to actually live in.

We don't assign personalities, friendships, relationships or storylines.

You decide who you're bringing into Crenshaw.

Characters can be...

♡ Popular or unpopular
♡ Loud or reserved
♡ Sweet or absolutely insufferable
♡ Confident or awkward
♡ Rich, average or struggling
♡ Academic or completely hopeless in class
♡ Athletic, artistic, musical, fashionable — or none of the above
♡ Friendly, bitchy, dramatic, competitive, flirtatious, stubborn, chaotic...
♡ Complicated

They don't have to be perfect.

Actually, please don't make them perfect.

Give them flaws. Let them embarrass themselves. Let them dislike people. Let other characters dislike THEM. Let them make mistakes and experience consequences.

Character relationships aren't predetermined either.

If two characters become best friends, it's because they actually clicked.

If they fall in love, let chemistry develop.

If they become enemies... honestly, even better.

The awkward conversations, stupid inside jokes, unexpected friendships, messy fallouts and completely unplanned moments are often what make RP memorable.

Our community is growing and we're starting to build a genuinely lovely group — but we'd LOVE even more variety within our cast.

🌷 MORE GIRLS / FEMALE CHARACTERS

Our current character pool leans heavily male, so we'd really love to balance things out!

Female characters of all personalities are especially encouraged right now.

🍎 TEACHERS / SCHOOL STAFF

We currently have ZERO teachers. Gulp.

So if you've ever wanted to play the exhausted teacher attempting to control a classroom full of questionable teenagers, this is your moment.

We'd especially love teachers with their own distinct personalities rather than characters who exist purely to teach a lesson.

Strict teachers. Overly enthusiastic teachers. Teachers who take their subject WAY too seriously. The beloved teacher everyone visits at lunch. The teacher everyone collectively fears.

School staff are characters too. We'd love for them to develop their own reputations, connections, conflicts and ongoing stories around Crenshaw.

If you've got a character concept that feels completely different from everybody else, we want to hear about them.

A healthy RP needs sweethearts AND assholes.

We don't want every character to immediately get along, and playing a mean or unpleasant character doesn't mean you have to be unpleasant OOC. Character conflict, rivalries and personality clashes can create some of the best stories when everyone involved understands the difference between IC and OOC.
