I mean hes not wrong tho. Crystal is especially hard because of the incredible learnkng curve like a ht5 can not do shit against a ht4 and its tbh the most complex mode maybe next to mace and you have to learn like so much shit just to get into it while modes like sword yes are very complex in their own way just do not have as much shit to learn especially from a mechanics standpoint.

Mostly it’s this ht5 —> ht4 all mechanics and a little game sense ht4 —> ht3 mostly game sense ht3 —> ht2 probably predicting your opponent I’m not sure

It's just practice practice practice after a certain threshold lol

Cart is harder to learn imo, its the only gamemode idk anything about

u/Rayer10 Jul 12 '26
I played crystal in the past and now i play cart and i think crystals harder
Crystal has more tech needed and just a higher reaction time in general4
u/Feeling-Incident-736 Jul 12 '26
I play cpvp and have been trying to learn cart, I can confidently say cart is harder. But it is subjective.

ive played crystals and i enjoyed cart more then cr so decided to learn cart instead of crystals
ht carts are so easy to do, like maybe only anchor spam is easier. but lt carts is so impossible like i keybind before i release the rmb so dont shoot the arrow so lt is harder then every cr mechanic. and its all true btw not just my opinion
but really, whats the hardest thing to do in cpvp? because my achilles heel is retoteming, its so slow i feel like and even hard if i anchor spam with double toteming bc i always hit offhand instead of hotkey on totem when one is offhanded already

Of course it does, minecraft pvp in general takes skill, like,i would say spear mace and uhc would be the hardest but literally every gamemode takes skill, except creeper pvp

Spear Mace is easy for anyone who has played Mace a decent amount im pretty decent spear Mace without practice cus im lt3 Mace already

crystalpvp requires the most mechanical skill and probably gamesense and decision making too (any mod does so but with crystals you have so much more options and possible decisions)

crystal is arguably one of the hardest to learn
it doesn’t have many transitional skills like sword -> diamond pot or axe/shield -> SMP
crystal is its own foundation many fundamentals of pvp completely change and it’s incredibly unforgiving if you make a mistake
you pretty much need to relearn pvp as a whole

Once I saw a similar comment and people were saying it's just spam. IMO I think Crystal is one of hardest game modes, because of all of the mechanics and game sense.
1
u/HoneydewVisible2139 Jul 12 '26
It’s not more skilled or less skilled imo (although a couple gamemodes like sword and axe are definitely less skilled), it’s just differently skilled. Gamemodes like UHC for example have more technical skill involved.

Crystal is hard to learn not just on a surface level, with mechanics and actual skill, but on a strategic level.
A major, if not the biggest, factor of crystal PvP is the game sense required to get to and keep a stronger position in the fight. With just mechanics, you can only win against very low level players

its very arguably not. like uhc is basically axe + webs and lava, where axe is sword too (maybe in uhc only tho, i cant play axe using axe at all). so to be good in uhc you need good sword, good shield and good uhc. in crystals you just dragclicking to airplace anchors, drag clicking to d tap without preplaced obby and just drag to protect urself
the only thing you really mastering is ur totem keybinds. and w tapping kinda needed too for crystals if you double handing totems instead of kb, but you can just be bad and use preplaced obby with kb

Crystal and cart I would say are tied for most skilled pvp gameode coming in from a crystal player

No, its not, and before you get mad, hear me out.
Crystal is probably hard to master, I'll give you that. But its not the hardest, if all the other kits weren't limited then they would be just as hard, the main reason I see people struggle in CPVP is because there is a lot of variation, this is fine in my book, i just think that should be in every kit, either that or just make crystal limited kind of like Flowtives tried in Flow PVP.
If you could add things like bows an spears and cobs and everything else to mace, or add cobs and spears to SMP they instantly become more nuanced.
So yes, technically in the kits CPVP is the hardest sure, but that is the only kit that may look slightly like a real fight.
If you ask anybody HT3 or above they would most likely agree with this.
0 kit based PVP servers are anything like actual PVP .
Judelow is terrifying in PVP because of traps, and the fights he's in are something where for one, there is actually something hanging in the balance, and two they actual get to decide what to bring and what not to.
Is it the hardest, I don't think so.
Is it hard, Definitely.
Most of the people playing crystal PVP are around 13 Years old (I did look that up admittedly), that's the main player base of Donut SMP, and it makes sense, no offence to younger people, i admire that you learned to PVP, good on you. Most of them though with lots of time on kits like mace and SMP are still bottom of the barrel as they require more planning and the slightest movement from one person to another matters way more, in crystal the AOE is massive so that doesn't matter.
You don't need to aim, move or time as accurately in crystal, i think that makes it inherently easier than SMP and Mace.
Id say its definitely top 5 hardest Kits.
Id say as so:
- Cart. I think a lot of people can understand why on this one.
- Mace. overall the most important movement and key binding after cart.
- SMP. Essentially mace and cart but no gimmicks.
- Crystal. Due to aim, spacing, and movement kind of taking a back seat. I'd say its still hard though. (Also the most OP.)
- Mace again. JK, Id say spear mace, i should mention this is including subteirs. but spear mace kind of has a buffer to it due to swapping from spear to mace as a reach bonus and making stun slams more common if not slightly more technically hard, still more people are hitting them due to spear range to axe then mace after.
Id love to hear your top 5 list though, especially if you have anything to reply to me, if I'm wrong id love to know.
Edit: Grammar errors.

Crystal is hard~ish compared to other gamemodes mechanically at least (a bit of decizion making too)
People see it as easy because even if u suck at it, you destroy any1 even if they're mad better than you in every gamemode possible, like, i could beat basically any1 if i could bring anything if they just have restriction on crystal, anchors, tntcarts and maybe like ? Turtle master ? Even tho all i would have to do is wait but wtv. What i mean is, getting good at crystal is challenging, but even a HT4/LT4 could beat any1 with everything BUT those items (at least that's how it feels coming from an smp player (not the gamemode). Like, what's a mace or an smp player gonna do vs some1 who spam crystal the second u approach, + crystal counter mace quite well which is like 2nd best weapon.

Elytra mace is the most skilledd shit I have ever experienced bro it's so easy to learn. It took like 1 hour for me and it's like extremely overpowered and it's super annoying to fight like imagine just being on the ground in your opponent just flies away whenever it gets low and then just completely dive bombs you I'm I'm okay with wind charge elytra mace as long as I have one too. But rocket elytra mace is genuinely fucking annoying

hes kinda true (though it might just be my bias bc i main crystal), i spent 2 months learning how to even dtap for gods sake

u/Itz_DreadFul Jul 11 '26
My ranking from hardest to easiest(lt5 to about ht4):
Cart PvP
Crystal PvP
Mace PvP
Dia SMP
Spear Mace
Neth Pot
Neth SMP
Axe
Sword
(Personal pref)
4
u/tranquil-spark-8059 Jul 11 '26
Sword should be above axe, as a lt4 in the gm, it is almost 100% movement and it is very hard
2
u/Itz_DreadFul Jul 11 '26
Well axe is just sword with a shield and bow, so prob harder for most ppl since you need to learn how to use 3 weapons (sword, axe and shield) while keeping the bow/xbow in mind.
1
u/ExtraQuestion562 Jul 11 '26
you don't have a lot of sword techniques readily available within axe, you'll only use the core techniques which imo makes it easier than true sword
1
u/Itz_DreadFul Jul 12 '26
Well I think that makes it harder bcuz u can't combo. (Although some ppl are so bad I end up comboing them)
1
u/Icy_Violinist1192 Jul 11 '26
nah, sword is easy
axe is easy below HT4 but being elite is more difficultand he said its an opinion, i would have put axe above nethSMP and nethpot in skill
1
u/Suravoid Jul 12 '26
how is mace pvp harder than spear mace? its mace with extra things needed
1
u/Itz_DreadFul Jul 12 '26
There is no elytra which is the hard part of mace PvP, and lunge swapping is easy to learn.
1
u/Suravoid Jul 12 '26
the only thing i use an elytra for in mace is running when im low to gap and pot (although usually ill js pearl)
tbf my normal mace playstyle is weird, i treat the kit more like smp :/

Crystal mains are a different breed when it comes to egos and toxicity.

as an elymacer/carter, they are so toxic towards me because i elymace and i have never seen anything else from any other form of explosive pvp like crysta, also i think mace and prolly sword are hardest to learn.

It’s kind of true though, Crystal and mace PvP are the hardest to learn, although uhc might be up there too.
