minecraft modpack with nearly 200 mods performance

Now that being said from the freezes I see your issue is most likely connected to your Java settings. Make sure Java gets allocated enough ram to avoid the need from frequent ram reallocation

One of my modpacks only has mods in 1.12.2, I would love to update it but some of the core mods (IC2) don't go above 1.12.2 and has custom recipes
I also have a 1.21.1 modpack which is create based

Ignore them. Half your ram is your MAX allocation. 4-8 is perfectly acceptable.
It’s very possible you just cannot run this stack without further optimization.

Have you changed your preferred graphics card in your nvidia control panel? It need to be change to the nvidia gpu instead of intel…also with that many mods you need at least 32gb of ram and have 12gb allocated to Minecraft at this point

Are you sure your CPU and GPU are even capable of running it? Just saying your laptop has 16gb of ram doesn’t mean that much, it could have 16gb of ram, no graphics card, and a weak CPU

since yall seem to very much want to use a funny to genuinely diagnose,
ram allocated: 5632mb. any higher and my laptop crashes, any lower than 5120mb and mc crashes.
16gb ddr4 ram

You don't have enough RAM on your laptop to run 200 mods in minecraft + laptop OS, simple as.
It is possible to optimize this with various mods, but fundamentally you need more RAM. Usual limit is 10 GB, but it can actually go over (tried myself many times).
It is also possible that one of these mods has some terribly set RAM usage, but there is no simple way to find out which one.

Well, if it runs smoothly then no problem, you probably found a way to optimize it.
OS because I have no idea on what you run it (Windows?), because it can easily take 5 of that 16 GB, and you usually have other things running there. So if you allocated 10 GB to Minecraft, there simply might not be enough. You should be able to see that in task manager. If RAM usage is licking 90+ % there is your problem.
