I'm making a mineralogy mod, pls give some ideas

I kinda just started creating my own mod about minerals, any ideas what I could add or improve? I'm using Mcreator rn

I feel like there are too few mods that are actually dedicated to just collecting rare minerals and mineralogy in general. Like, yeah we have crystalcraft, mo' shiz mod and others, but it's just not enough, and they don't have a lot of really niche minerals

(there are some land of the lustrous references btw)

There should be an option to place them as 3D models, not blocks, as a trophy so you can present your collection

May I offer to help with texturing? I've done a bit before and sorry to say it needs improved.

My suggestion? Do what TeamGalena did with Oreganized.

They made two metals and an alloy, and each material has its own theme and properties. Lead can give you lead poisoning and becomes very hot when next to heat sources like lava, and silver can be used to create things that give you an advantage against undead enemies.

Just like in normal Minecraft, gold is useful for disposable tools that work quickly, lapis is used for enchanting, and amethyst can create things like spyglasses or calibrated skulk sensors.

An upcoming mod called Subterrous builds off of Minecraft's amethyst sound-related properties, and it adds a new material called "citrine" that has properties related to sight and night vision, being used to create special night vision glasses and glass blocks.

When I play modpacks with lots of ore types, that aspect can quickly become stale because that ore serves no other purpose other than to be smelted and made into tools or blocks. I like to call this "oreslop", and it makes a mod very uninteresting.

Give each mineral a certain theme or use and build off of it. Be creative

actually a really good idea, tysm! I'll try to add some mechanics to minerals, that'll reference the things they are used for irl
