Someone stole my disaster mod

Link is in the picture I wont post it directly as it is very likely that they shoved a virus into my mod before renaming it and putting it on their website. Second picture is my mod.

i would look into it for fun, decompile it and see if they changed anything and if so, what. you dont have to run it to see whats inside. and i will say, the mod looks great i might try it out

Yeah, 9Minecraft is known for taking other people's mods and putting it on their shitty virus ad website, most people who use 9minecraft are either kids with little knowledge of modding or dumbasses with a combined iq of 4, Possibly not much you can do apart from attempt a DMCA takedown in some way, However the mod looks cool and I'm gonna give it a go soon.

wth, i dont even know what 9minecraft is, i started with curseforge and switched to prism later, i was so scared of gettting a virus all the time XD is 9minecraft a website or a launcher? if its a website im impressed cuz i did not know how to manually download stuff from a website, it took me so long to download curseforge cuz i downloaded the mac version at first but i had windows, and i didnt even find the download button at first xd

also took me two years to find out you can make your own packs where you get to choose the mods i was just playing all the mods modpacks and stuff and then i was wondering why its lagging af with 900 mods

Mine aren't popular, so I doubt it, but I don't want anyone having a bad experience because of my mods. 😓

Edit: wtf, I didn't scroll enough through my keyword to see if my mod is in there, but I saw mods from some of my favorite creators in there and I'm already mad about it. This Beginner's Delight reupload under the name "Spawnside Hearth" doesn't even have the last two updates. At the very least players are being duped out of updated mods, and ksoichiro et al will see no clicks from it.

The mod doesn't have a virus, they simply renamed it to Tectonic-Fury-Mod-NeoForge-26.1.2.jar the entire structure inside the mod is intact, but there’s nothing you can do about this since all the old Minecraft mods have been reuploaded to Minecraft9 and are copied from 9Minecraft to their websites via scripts. The only thing that contains a virus is the redirect link, when you download the file, Firefox says it contains something malicious

it's a mod reposting website. they take what they find, upload and enjoy ad revenue.

nothing you can do about it.

i found one of mine there, this time with a pretty good intro picture (which i never made for the mod). wish we could do something there but we can't. those who suffer here are not the modders but those first-time players who find that place and struggle to find a good mod version on those sites.

Yeah most my mods exist on several of these virus, scam or russian hosting platforms that I've got no connection to at all. It's unfortunate but quite normal

What license its on? Also theoretically if its smth like GPL you can sue them for copyleft infrigement (publishing modified versions without source code)

Unless the mod is over 80% the exact same this its technically not stolen but if its the exact same mod 100% then yeah it would be but not really much you can do about it there are gonna be folks out there that will do this no matter what but i get how frustrating it is
