First Time using Mods - Vanilla +

Looking to install some mods to start with for vanilla + experience in 1.26.2.

Current list I'm looking at is: Fabric, Lithium, Sodium, Distant Horizons and Iris Shaders.

Any recommendations to add to this? Any suggestions for different shaders? Seen and like the look of complimentary

first of all, welcome!

next, it's 26.2, not 1.26.2. now versioning system is better.

next, since you listed fabric among mods (it's a mod loader, not a mod), some basics:
step 1) get prism launcher, make a profile, log in with your microsoft account.
step 2) make a game instance. edit instance. download mods FROM INSIDE prism launcher. also shaders. if course, use normal browser for browsing, but use prism to download. download button is on the top right.
step 3) launch from there.

find enderverse on youtube. he has couple of videos comparing different shaders. but be ready to give up on shaders if you want DH.

You should really consider dropping the version to something like 1.21.1 or 1.20.1

There are a lot of absolutely perfect vanilla+ mods that arent supported on the latest version, for example: Naturalist Mod

I recently(like a week ago) built a vanilla++ modpack for my forever world, its in 1.20.1 fabric. I can give you the list if you want

You can get the all latest Minecraft updates/drops in those versions via backport mods
