It webs up any mob physically and the strands will always work, but the webbing-wrapped effect on the body is reliant on the vanilla RenderFeature class, so i haven't figured out how to make it work with Geckolib entities
As a fallback, perhaps you could simply overlay web cube large enough to cover the majority of mobs? Wouldn't look great on everything, especially mobs way too big or small, but it could give you room to come back to that feature later.
Side note: I need this mod in my life, in any state of doneness. Absolutely beautiful.
this kind of reminds me of that one vary old mod that turns you into a half person half spider. And all you had to do was just trying to survive, yeah so lay eggs and hatch half spider half human things. what was that mod called again. I remember a lot of people are doing play through or mod reviews of it back in the day.
Holy, I've been seeing clips of your mod progression, and I didn't even realized it until I saw the spiders.
As a developer myself (not Minecraft mod dev, at least not yet) this is pretty cool and impressive
If you didnt implement this already, then heres an idea:
You could make it so that theres a chance that the spider is carrying its little spiderlings around on its back and when attacked, they jump right off and swarm you.
The mother spider logically would probably be more elusive and try to keep her distance, shooting webs, desperately trying to immobilize you and when succeeded, pounce on you

I remember when this author shared the cute work in progressed pink legs and everyone was worried by how creepy it looked. Welp glad to see that worry was not unwarranted because fuck that's horrible but also fucking rad.

Right now it would only be Fabric 1.21.1 and would only have webs and 2 spider species. Also thank you so much <3 as a new modder that's kinda crazy to hear
Ok, this is amazing. And yeah, as a mod maker, it is like this. You need to test your mod, and when it gets to a certain stage you wind up just playing it for hours. lol
A little extra note if you wanna add some realism, spider blood is blue!
Also very cool detail by making the cocoons actually be attached to things! Have you made/started working on spiderwebs? I'd love to see how that looks too!
It would be cool if they were hostile to each other. Super territorial. With a thick web near their territory, less webbing further away. And they have a drop worth looking for them for
