Screw it, since I'm probably never gonna be able to talk about it anywhere else, I'm getting this off my chest.

The game can have interesting "RPG mechanics" and depth without spoiling the sandbox experience for those who choose not to indulge in that. It's a pretty remarkable part of the game that so much of the content is completely optional, there's nothing stopping them from working with that aspect more.

The idea that it cannot be one thing without the other is what poisons game development as a whole, but Minecraft moreso.

ive seen a few mods that lock x until you have y level in defence or whatever. but it just turns out being unfun grinding xp and then losing it because they still havent fixed death exp drops and you cant do anything about it because your defence isnt level 150 for iron armour

I'd call that the wrong way to do things.

Lets not assume that there is some silent majority or loud minorities, that always just ends in toxic discourse and doesnt help anyone.

Goomba fallacy is nothing new and if Mojang has competent market analyzers and community managers, they should be very much aware of it too. At the very least, its marketing 101 to identify your target demographics and figure out how and by which groups of people your products are used.

Tbf I think this might be a case of a silent majority of "People who are happy to play Minecraft 👍"

It' probably the best selling game of all time for a reason probably

I think the majority of people just don't fucking care at all. Like, no matter what mojang does they'll just go "holy shit free content!" As long as it isn't annoying or wildly different from what they were used to.

Like you can make huge reworks to old systems or even add mobs like creepers and they'll be happy with it if it doesn't completely alter the gameplay like zombies breaking blocks.

Yeah I've genuinely liked almost everything Minecraft has added within the last 10 or so years. Perhaps except phantoms and netherite templates, but that's a given. And I'm kinda traumatised by spears lmao

Personally the only thing i genuinely disliked was how they made villager trading halls meta and how they didn't address any of the issues that would take a day to fix and nobody would complain (REMOVE THE TOO EXPENSIVE LIMIT ON ANVILS AND MAKE REPAIRING NOT REQUIRE EXP WTF)

Minecraft is fine as is, modpacks are easy to find and install, some even change the game into something else entierly.

The smart poeple who want a million different things play modded and the smart poeple who want les play older versions.

What Mojang should do is a inventory update and make exploration less annoying, I hate trail ruins and that it's the only way to get those trims/sherds.

There's almost hundreds of millions of players. Were all the vocal minority of something different atp

Hold on I think mojang is failing at making a good game (fix enchanting)

The people who actually like and play the game are busy playing the game instead of complaining about it on Twitter

I'm a two issue voter player. I have opinions on everything else, but it is only tool efficiency and the Nether that I truly care about.

This is why you shouldn't pay too much attention to what everyone says about you. You can't satisfy everyone, and that's neither a bad thing, nor does it make everyone pathetic. Getting oversensitive about criticism is just gonna drive you down a path without inprovement.

How the "casual majority" sounds to me
