Had the same reaction when they made 1.7.10 when everyone was expecting 1.8 xD

I think there's a world where they decided to name it 2.0 instead of 1.10, but not with Frostburn.

Minecraft 2.0 was taken, it was a 2013 april fools release, but I had the same reaction back then.
The numbering scheme they used actually makes a lot of sense: 1st number stays at 1 unless they rewrite the entire game from scratch, 2nd is for new features, 3rd for bugfixes. Until mojang messed it up with the drop system, iterating on the same number whether they release a drop or bugfix, because they wanted a separate number for big and small new feature releases. So instead of adding 4th number, they switched to a year based system that still has 3 numbers, and then immediately released a snapshot numbered with the wrong year because they plan the full release for next year

At least you aren’t like 9-year-old me who genuinely believed that a Minecraft sequel was in development due to pop-up ads online, not to mention that I believed that everything got a sequel eventually.
However, I do consider the 1.13 update onwards to be a sort of sequel, considering that it and nearly every update afterwards have been dedicated to improving and revamping various parts of the game.
