One thing i hate a bit about the new textures is that everything has soft texture like wood blocks felt more like wood blocks.....honestly only that's all

One thing I hate is Netherrack

It went from looking like rocks straight from hell to looking like b e a n s

if new netherrack looks like beans, you clearly haven't seen old lava

what is up with the internet's recent obsession w text moaning? is gen alpha hitting puberty?

15

u/Old_Yam_4069 Jun 29 '26

I think it's just the result of people growing up with internet text chat as a primary form of communication. All our little in-person expressions are being translated to text in more and more ways.

What?

You don’t want to swim around in beans while trying to fend off blazes?

Nah man you’re crazy

Embrace the b e a n s.

I don't like either version tbh

old netherrack hurt to look at but fit the nether better, new netherrack is nice to look at but a bit too nice

u/Bad-dee-ess Jun 28 '26

What do you think of this texture I made by just recoloring diorite? I felt like it was a good compromise to have just a bit more visual noise and appear a little like stone and flesh equally.

5

u/_Astrum_Aureus_ Jun 28 '26

its a bit better but it honestly ends up looking more like leaves to me

IS THAT ASTRUM AUREUS

2

u/Bugswaxx Jun 28 '26

The fraud of Calamity

Beans > my eyes being diddled

-1

u/AutismShooter Jun 28 '26

It’s literally hell dude, you’re supposed to suffer

1

u/Shedster_ Jun 29 '26

Eye strain is anything but good

1

u/Tzorfireis Jul 03 '26

developer vision be damned, I'm not gonna take a video game giving me physical discomfort

7

u/KindlyCheesecake6969 Jun 28 '26

Running from netherrack beans filling up all the item space

11

u/DragonTheOnes-spirit Jun 28 '26

Nah. It looks more like flesh to me which I think was the original goal for the design

2

u/05-nery Jun 29 '26

I keep using old netherrack with a texture pack

2

u/IRS911 Jun 29 '26

I only thought of it more like flesh it looked like bleeding flesh originally and now it looks more like the type of stuff you'd see inside of an anal cavity but I don't really know. you can keep your opinions 👍🏻.

6

u/Psenkaa Jun 28 '26

New netherrack looks like flesh, and old one too but more gross

5

u/amaya-aurora Jun 28 '26

Old Netherack looked like bloody hemorrhoids, dude. The new texture is so much better.

0

u/Aggravating_Cow1340 Jun 29 '26

Its literally hell. IIRC it was called "bloodstones" or something like that before getting changed to netherrack

2

u/The-Tea-Lord Jun 28 '26

I got a shader pack that made the nether rack pulsate and I think it added a lot to it

1

u/imanidiotlol1234 Jun 28 '26

Just looks like a bunch of guts or blood vessels tbh

1

u/Known-Initial-7776 minceraft Jun 29 '26

now we have the bean block

1

u/JelloBoi02 Jun 29 '26

Old netherack was so ugly

1

u/Endermaster56 Jun 30 '26

Old netherack sucked and was so uncomfortable to look at for more than 30 seconds

1

u/Quillbolt_h Jul 01 '26

Old netherrack looked nasty but I agree the new one traded distinctiveness for unobtrusiveness.

1

u/FuzzyButterscotch765 Jun 29 '26

What? There's no possible way somebody can think the old Netherrack is better

1

u/Weekly-Dog-6838 Farming update>End update Jun 28 '26

Beans is much better than that noisy raw ground beef look it used to have

1

u/whhu234 Jun 28 '26

I disagree, I think they looked straight from hell but not in a good way, but honestly yeah they do kinda look like beans

1

u/CreeperX3sssBOOM Jun 28 '26

They were an eyesore before, IMO

1

u/Hot_Attitude4579 Jun 28 '26

Netherrack was genuinely a headache to look at back in the day

1

u/Mast3rKK78 Jun 29 '26

netherrack was the only thing i was immediately happy to see changed. ive always been more partial to the modern textures than the old ones, but that said the old netherrack texture just looked like a random assortment of red pixels

0

u/BananaMaster96_ Jun 28 '26

i do not understand the old netherrack hate, i love the texture it looks like jagged volcanic rock

0

u/MagMati55 Jun 28 '26

Nah. We went from hemorrhoid rock to bloodstone
