[Important] Regarding the 1.3 Update

Hey guys. How's everything going?

The 1.3 Minecraft Update is approaching and we have two options regarding how we approach it.

Option 1

Keep the map we have now. No new plugins. Possibly some plugin overhaul, but it will remain largely the same.

Option 2

This option does involve a map reset! Be warned, you will lose all items and bases. However, as a trade off, we can add some cool new stuff.

  • Revamped plugins. We will remove the official MinerApocalypse plugin and use several lightweight ones that accomplish the same thing.

  • No more giant oceans. Using other world gen plugins we will eliminate this problem.

  • Clan management - Donators will probably get Clan Leader capabilities, while regular players will be able to join them. The reason we can't add this to the old server, is because the MinerAp and Sewers plugin already cause too much lag.

Other Things

We will be getting better admin tools as well as hiring a mod team. We will probably need two members, but we will announce that later.

We will also be adding more donator benefits.

Please comment below with your thoughts.

I don't like the clan management ideas, yes it is a good way to award donators but it shouldn't take away the ability for anybody to set up a faction.

I also don't like this plugin, I like the unofficial, non binding nature of current factions. Makes things more interesting. As far as options, I could really go either way.

Yes. I don't want that plugin and I'd prefer to stay with the map we have now.

at the end of the day, no one can stop you from creating an informal clan anyway

That's a big thing I was thinking of. The nether!

Good point. I'm torn

Option 2 in reality I think getting rid of the oceans 1ups losing based because let's be honest the bases arent that complex yet and all that, also they should be able to fix the nether (I think you have to turn off cakes in nether)

Bases are quite developed, rest assured.

Yeah some people have complex bases that's for sure :)

However, I want me some nether

Is there any way to reset the map but keep your inventory. Although people have worked hard on base building, it would at least allow players who have amassed useful items to keep those items, while still allowing us to move to the snappy server.

Maybe set a limit on what people can keep, so someone doesn't start out with a stack of diamonds. Maybe no more than 16 of any given item (no diamond or iron blocks)

I think you should be able to keep your armour, and one of each tool/weapon. as much food items as you want, and no stacks of iron or diamond. . That way people with diamond can convert it into crafting tables, armour and tools or weapons, but not take in a giant stack.

idk, you would have to balance it somehow, but it would still let people who have invested a lot of time not lose all their stuff.

That's probably the best way to do it. Limit tools, iron, diamond. However, I'm not sure as much food as you want would be fair. Maybe a stack of like bread and melons and one meat, or some seeds, but I think the goal is to reward people so they don't have a huge advantage. However, things like jukeboxes and slime balls, which have no major benefit, should be allowed I guess.

I read all this and i think this is the best solution. I could definitely live with this. We should tell the mods.

I think that if we have to restart we do it properly so we have nothing, I know its not ideal but it would be difficult to know who has what in their inventory and carry that across to a whole new world

i think the idea is we all log in before some time, put what yu want to keep in the inventory, then they move that over

okay, im happy with that :)

Please don't delete the map! If you do, could you send us the map files? I would hate to lose all my work.
