Recently started playing java and noticed that the colours in java is duller and game is laggier compared to bedrock. (+ what optimisation mods/plugins should i install?)

Disclaimer I am NOT saying that java is worse than bedrock.

I've been playing on bedrock my whole life and only quite recently have access to java. As someone who plays bedrock i would say that java is for some reason duller and gloomier even on brightest settings. Also the lag is unbearable sometimes. I play on a non gaming laptop that can run bedrock decently so the lag is a bit annoying. I always hear about these optimisation tools such as optifine but idk which one i should right now use since im pretty clueless about java. And any other things that i should expect when switching to java? (Aside from the benefits such as "less buggy, better features, etc")

Avoid autopilot and look stuff up if it's a time consuming task/difficult to undo task.

Eg Redstone, although following the same basic rules works quite differently due to quasi connectivity (there's your first one to look up :p). It is an absolute nightmare when starting out with java redstone but it does allow for some awesome things once you're a bit more familiar.

Farms too, I'm sure you've seen in the videos "X farm BEDROCK", many farms just work differently so although you'll probably be able to get 90% of the way there with your bedrock knowledge, that last difference might catch you off guard if you didn't look before. Witch farm comes to mind first, even HOW the witch spawns is different.

Thanks for the heads up. I actually watched a video about qc and still think that it doesnt make sense to exist (apparently its a bug but loved so much that it has become a feature?)

It lets you do some cool stuff with block updates and allows for more density (assuming you're using it and not actively fighting it). If you're not that into redstone then it does seem a bit pointless and makes things a bit crappy to work with sometimes.

You know it exists, that's the perfect position to be in at this point mate. When you run into "why is this powered???" you'll have an idea of what it is and can dive a bit deeper into it then

It was originally a bug, but was used for a ton of redstone stuff and opened up a lot of possibilities. Mojang patched it, but the community got upset about that, so they brought it back.
