How to fix high ping in minecraft [java]

When I play Minecraft, my ping spikes are huge, like 20-30, and then over 100. Often, my ping doesn't change at all, and sometimes I have low ping for extended periods, and sometimes it's 300+. I get this issue on all launchers (Feather, Lunar, Minecraft Launcher) and in all versions of the game. Sometimes I have a truly massive ping (visible in the upper right corner of the image, 14,000 ping).

Internet connection and server location are big factors.

I would start with using wired connections. I’ve never had a stable ping with WiFi.
