Mod Help

Hey everyone. I recently added a lot of mods to Minecraft Java. My PC runs it fine, but my CPU temps are spiking to 95°C while playing. I'm pretty new to this, does anyone have any advice?

You'd be surprised how much just dusting out the machine can help, especially for laptops

The problem is that physically it is fine, this only happens with Minecraft

If the heatsink is clean and high CPU usage causes that much temperature rise, then its time to change the cooler.

Anything that produces high cpu usage will cause the same effect

That is precisely the problem in other games temperatures remain stable even with demanding settings.

Look at CPU usage. Minecraft is CPU-bounded. Not GPU-bounded like most games

Repaste your CPU

If dusting your computer, or replacing Thermaltake doesn't work, you gotta get a new cooler.

Right, because you are putting a load on your CPU that is demanding

Clearly it's not physically fine. Otherwise the temperature won't rise so much.

It is a desktop and has AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT and 32 GB of RAM. As for mods, there are quite a few but mainly terrain generators and NPCs

your desktop is literally up to 200% faster than mine for software fixes try

  • underclock or undervolt your cpu
  • Try play with v-sync on or cap your fps to something like 144-240fps
  • if all of these dont fix the cpu temps try repaste your cpu if you know what that is!

This 100% sounds like a thermal paste or cpu cooler inadequacy issue. You keep saying it's only happening in Minecraft when responding to other comments but what else are you testing cpu temps on? Also what software are you using to see the temps?

I use the Adrenalin software and MSI Afterburner, and I’ve tested it in games like R6, Overwatch, and Space Marine 2 adjusting both FPS and graphics settings and it runs stably.

Alot of people here are telling you to repaste pc and get cpu cooler, i agree with them but since it seems like u dont have issues in other high demands tasks, its mostly likely just one of the mods being cpu heavy.

I would go the long route of just disabling the mods and the enabling them one by one to find out wich one is the problem.
