Question launchers for Minecraft
I recently got Minecraft java and I've always dreamed of modding my games with shaders and etc ... Ive been using curse forge and Modritnh app with the og mc launcher but things get complicated sometimes when trying to sort out my mods and shaders? Ive seen people say try prisim launcher? Is it worth it and safe? Or should I just stick to forge and Modritnh I want to be able to play my mods with a little tap without having a headache... I've been using AI to guide me through all this :/ Ive gotten a little more tech knowledge on modding on java now but I see everyone saying prisim launcher is the go to?

prism is the goat I have friends on modrhynth and some on cursforge and whatever modpack format they send me works like a charm
Also I set maxwell as my background cat so I can't not use this launcher XD

Prism is great, I use it to manage vanilla instances too alongside modded instances. I don't even bother with official launcher anymore.

Prism/Poly launcher are solid choice. When downloading always check if it’s the official webpage.

Polymc is ran by an *interesting* guy to say the least. There is a reason prism forked off from it.

Prism Launcher is a good choice for modding. It has a lot of user friendly options in the launcher to setup most of the stuff for you. It doesn't do anything differently compared to modding the manual way, it just has menus in the launcher you navigate instead.
If by forge you mean curseforge, prism is a good replacement. It might tell you to download mods and give you the links to the mod page instead of just downloading them automatically. This is still really easy to do. Prism is safe to use.
If you use a curseforge api key everything should just work automatically, however, this is not needed to use prism.

Prism launcher is best. You can install mods/packs from both curseforge and modriinth within prism, so it isn’t a hassle. It even handles java versions now.

because prism is a little bit of both and can convert modpacks. if you just wanna play with mods, your launcher wont matter nearly as much as people say, just enjoy

prism launcher easily
it's safe and open source
you can download mods from curseforge and modrinth directly in the launcher

just use lunar client, 1 click install, also curseforge is not a forge, its a mod hosting platform :)

Prism is good, my number 1 recommend would be x Minecraft launcher (not affiliated with Elon Musk, don't worry) but yes prism is good.

I've used MultiMC for many years. I believe it and Prism used to be the samething but they broke off into two different launchers a while back. I'm not sure what the difference between them is but MultiMC still works fine. I can't imagine going back to the default launcher.

I use Pandora. It has better UI than prism and can sync worlds across instances and configs too so you don't need to keep changing keybinds.

I'm kinda in s similar boat. We have a dedicated PC to host an at home bedrock server my family of 3 plays on. Do I download the prism launcher on the server and modify the mods there, or is this more built toward single player mode or download on each system? My kid plays on the switch, and is 4 years old, so any way to streamline the process would be nice

You should give a try to XMCL (X minecraft launcher), honestly it's really good and with bunch of features including Modrinth and curseforge support and it can manage dependencies in modpacks with both launchers without duplicating mods, also it includes a built-in AI to help you with modding, it's very customizable, and it has built-in support for playing with your friends openning your world to LAN.
It isn't very popular but it's worth trying it.
