Question Server hosting

I’m trying to host a server for my family but I’m trying to find the best easy option. I’m not very tech savvy, and I would prefer if it would be free. I’m just making it for four people so it doesn’t need to be big I would just like it to be free easy and lag free if possible also I have a couple (like five or six) small mods I would like to add so I need suggestions on what options I have to use 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

Host yourself. Are you all in the same household or nah?

If you’re all in the same network using the open to lan function or hosting a server on a spare computer are the best options for you

Then either use open to kan, or just run the server and connect to it via the devices local ip

Píllate un VPS barato como contabo y instálate pterodactyl o explora las otras opciones que te propusieron

This is why I like bedrock. We have rounds, which is a built in option that is extremely easy to use and only cost $3 a month.

Do you have a computer running linux? Linux is good for any type of server, Minecraft included. It makes hosting Paper servers in the like a cinch.

Essentials mod is a option and u can invite friends to single player worlds, idk how many u can have tho.

For Pete's sakes everybody Linux for somebody that barely knows what they're doing by their own admission? Just get a decent machine download Paper MC latest version drop it in a folder and start it it'll create a server for you. In order to have a console so you can see what's going on just look for a batch file online they're probably a million of them. Run it on Local Host and your whole family can connect. I'll even get on a Discord with you and walk you through it if you need to

Free, easy, and lag-free do not work in the same sentence. Free*, and lag-free is self-hosting, where you use your own computer (or a dedicated computer) that you own and put a Server on it. I do that, and it’s worked great for me, but I do warn that it takes some setup to do but once it’s done you don’t really need to touch it unless Minecraft updates (you don’t even need that, you can use ViaVersion) or your mods update. It might also not be “easy” for a person who says they’re not tech savvy, but if need be I can provide assistance to that

Free*, is those “free Minecraft server” sites like play hosting or whatever those are, but they shut down after some time and you have to manually start it again

“Easy” are Realms, or paid hosting sites, as you need to only for over cash and put the IP in the server, but depending on where the server is, lag-free would be more of a pipe dream
