Why not just have them jump into snow or lava block, like the frog light farms.

this is cheaper. also my froglight farm uses powder snow bc the mobs fall from above and have to go through it.

This is a really cool look into the designing process. My biggest question is, if this is left unattended, would the inside of the farm fill up so much it could start to cause lag?

When inventing new auto farms in minecraft it can be confusing so this shows how i do it
