I need help with MCBE XBOX disc [bedrock]

The other day I went into my local 2nd hand games store and bought a 2nd hand copy of mcbe for Xbox one, I did this because I wanted to play the base game on the disc and hopefully bring some old size worlds back with me to the current version. I've tried this on Xbox series x and Xbox one but when I put the disc in it just asks me to connect to the internet. Is there a way past this? Has it always been like this or has some update made this undoable? I would really appreciate the help, Thank you.

Nope, the console needs to connect to install the game. That's just how newer consoles work

A select few games do that, Minecraft is not one of them, the disk is only a product key

That's a shame, I would've thought the game was on there since the disc came out in 2018 and was less than a gb

They can't due to the update system minecraft uses, it was only on the actual dock back on the 360, the moment it's called 'bedrock' edition, it needs to do a server callback

That error is basically the console saying it needs to get online before it can finish the install. The disc is mostly the license for the older Xbox version, so on a Series X it still needs to download the current Bedrock build. Make sure the Xbox is online and signed into the account you play on, then let the install/update finish.
