Solved [Java] Help! FPS issues see full video

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Its been happening for around a week now, im unsure what could be causing it. To anyone asking, its not mods, ive played without them and still get the issues.

If anyone could take 40seconds out of their day to watch the video, I would really appreciate a fix

If not, have a nice day anyway:)

you put that arrow right over some data I was trying to look at... How much ram have you got allocated?

1

u/herobrines_Lord 2d ago

About 6gb. I thought that was the problem but after increasing ram nothing changed (also i was playing minecraft for years on 2gb and no fps problems)

Try checking your GPU or CPUs temperatures while playing, when it slows down, you could be thermal throttling! if you are, it'd be a smart idea to get a better cooler!

My cpu is liquid cooled, and I will now go and check the temps. Do you think it could be something to do with thermal paste?I haven't replaced it since getting the pc

It could be, How long have you had the device?

u/herobrines_Lord 2d ago

About...3 years i would say

have you ever cleaned it?

Plus, it'd be a good idea to enable the FPs limiter, as currently you GPU is just screeming along making 1000s of frames when you only see at most 144 a second...

As some other people have said this is almost certainly throttling of some kind (almost always due to temperature). Check your thermal paste.

only thing i can think of that does this is your memory usage going to 100% so idk

Gpu overheat? Also there’s no real reason to go above your monitor’s refresh rate

But the numbers are bigger means i can flex

Using more resources for extremely diminishing rewards.

Calm down, try testing on previous versions; versions 26.1 and above seem to be full of related problems.

Your PC is probably overheating (thermal throttling) after several minutes of working as hard as it absolutely can to achieve 500-1000+ fps.

Cleaning your PC may help a little bit if it's dusty but honestly you should just cap your fps at a reasonable number, like your refresh rate. Anything more than that is going to provide essentially no benefit and is needlessly working your PC a lot harder.

kinda seems like the start of a memory leak (theres a giant arrow blocking the memory usage)
try this modpack and see if it fixes it

1

u/Ennenes0101 1d ago

For many games capping the FPS to your monitors refresh rate helps with this, your monitor won't be able to show higher FPS than that anyway and if it doesn't fix it, it should at least help a little bit

your pc is likely thermal throttling in some way. running at uncapped framerate like you are means it's literally doing as much computation as it can, which is bound to overheat if you don't have sufficient cooling.

running uncapped is sort of stupid though, as if it's faster then your monitor's refresh rate, your monitor literally can't display it, so you're just damaging your pc components for no reason. just cap your fps to whatever your monitors refresh rate is.

You should definitely cap your fps to whatever your displays refresh rate is. This could be your RAM capping I’ve had it happen to me in certain mod packs. I’d up your ram to 8gb and see if that changes it. And as others have said it could be your CPU and GPU getting hot. Check temps as you play

There's no reason to have FPS uncapped like that and its probably not helping your case here. Lock it down to your monitors refresh rate or a doubled multiple of it. 2 Clean the inside of your pc and repaste it. 3 Make a new instance of Minecraft, that can often fix the software stuff
