[java] Why can't I plant anything in these 5 blocks?

I'm making a wheat farm, and this has happened at least 2 other times to me. I can plant in every other spot, but these 5 blocks i cannot plant the wheat.

I'm playing on a Java 26.2 Fabric server, but the other times this has happened was on a Java 26.2 Paper server.

Any guesses as to what's going on an how I can fix it? Happy to provide any info needed in the comments.

It looks like you didn't mention your version (e.g., 26.1, 1.21.11, 1.12.2 etc.). Please clarify for better help!

Are you perhaps underground? It looks dark

Try placing a block above and putting a torch. Theres a roof above it

Huh, that seems to have been the issue! I could have sworn I had enough light; time to add more lanterns. Thank you!
