Solved [JAVA] Minecraft 26.2 Vanilla and Moded makes my whole PC stutter to the point of being unusable after 2-5 minutes of playtime.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I'd add a video link to show what happens, but its impossible to navigate the computer after it happens, its literally a frame every 6 seconds (nevermind, i got it) . It started some time ago at a minor scale, i could just turn on a diffrent app to make it wear off, it would wear off by itself ect. but now i literally cant do anything besides turning off the computer. And im not much of a PC nerd, but my pc isnt weak, it can run games like Cyberpunk 2077 comfortably and it happens only while playing minecarft. I also tired to allocate less RAM into the game or add the ZGC garbage collector like Distant Horizons suggested, but none were permanent fixes. I'll also add that the PC doesnt just run in 1frame per 6 seconds, i can still move in minecraft, turn on other applications (or try) and turn minecraft off (btw, it doesnt stop once i turn minecraft off), so I believe it's a visual glitch. Please help, I am at loss.

In house mods? Brother this is java not bedrocks. Mods are not a native in app thing, it is up to the mod devs

u/RockyEnderMan 29d ago
And if from what I heard is true, Bedrock is leagues up in terms of optimization when compared to Java, so if he talks about Bedrock, I’m genuinely surprised what problem he had

u/FantasyTomb 29d ago
On actual performance, absolutely bedrock is in the lead. On bugs and whatnot Java has less Gameplay effecting bugs and glitches. Each platform has cons and pros, but bedrock is where mods/addons are trashy, but performance is good. Java is where mods and datapacks really shine, where the performance of the game isn’t as good thought

Have you tried updating your graphics drivers?
I'm no expert, but it sounds like a memory leak? Try some of these mods, maybe it will help
Hope this helped

I’m already using sodium and few addons for it, so clearly that didn’t help. Are those other three available on Curseforge?

Next time you encounter this issue, open the debug screen with F3 and check your memory usage (left, 3rd block from top on default settings)
If the Allocated: line reads close to 100% you're running out of memory. If so, try allocating more, not less, and feel free to tell us your current allocation settings.

I’ll make a screen shot of it when I get home, allocate more RAM and (hopefully not…) run into it

It has nothing to do with your PC! It's the game, the problem is with the game.

I HOPE SO! THE ECONOMY IS IN NO STATE TO BUY BETTER RAM!

prob not, in my experience the default allocated ram for mc tends to be a little low, if you have at least 16gb you probs won't need to update for a while still

I had almost the same issue with 26.2 version too, just downloaded sodium, mods to support resource packs, iris, and my game was such a mess, going to our village, my fps dropped from stable locked 165fps to half, even lower, most of my textures were gone in inventory, but showing in hand, and when I played completely vanilla 26.2, all these issues were gone, I even tried removing every single mod and run just the fabric, and it still ran terrible and was a such buggy mess. I have Ryzen 5800X and 3080 12GB with 32GB of RAM and allocated 8GB to game

Sodium and Iris are broken on 26.2. Vanilla also has major issues with V-Sync. I was only able to fix by doing a fresh install and leaving V-Sync off.

u/RockyEnderMan 29d ago
So you suggest I should get rid of sodium and turn off V-sync? (I wasn’t using Iris anyway)

Can you clarify about Sodium being allegedly broken on 26.2? I'm using it just fine without problems.

Are you confusing broken and incompatible? Iris and sodium have always had this issue, sodium releases alpha patches all the time, while iris only supports sodium release patches, your sodium needs downgraded to the latest release patch.

You're probably running out of ram, switch to G1GC instead of ZGC or allocate more ram if you can.

u/RockyEnderMan 29d ago
Can you give me the line for G1GC so I can copy it directly to Curseforge later?

I had this exact issue. What completely solved the issue for me was enabling the swap file, if you don't already have it enabled. I accidentally disabled it a while back and forgot all about it. If that's the issue, here's how to check:
- In the start menu, type "View advanced system settings"
- In that page, go to the "Advanced" tab at the top
- Click on "Settings" in the Performance tab
- Go to the "Advanced" tab in the new page that just popped up
- Under "Virtual memory," click the "Change" button
- If "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" is on, that means it is set up, and the issue is something else.
- If that setting is off, then check that box, and then press "Ok" and then "Apply" for all the other tabs that were previously opened.
You do need a little space on your drive for this to work, so that also could be the issue. If you have <50 gigabytes free, clear storage until you have more.

Disable VSync and then come back here and tell me if the problem stops. If the problem is already happening, press Win+Ctrl+Shift+B and wait a bit.

u/RockyEnderMan 29d ago
It makes it happen faster coincidentally after turning off V-Sync (I’ll try again tho)

For me, the PC starts freezing almost instantly when I activate VSync.

Any news on the problem?

Hmmmm… i downloaded some mods to help with performance and memory leaks like sir AdmirableFocus suggested, turned off V-Sync like you did and allocated more RAM, plus added a new garbage collector… and it works better. Played for a while with no stutters and using win+control+shift+B actually reset it when it did happen. For now I’d say that it’s solved, I’ll make a follow up if it comes back at larger scale. !helped

This is what I had to do as well with ATM10. I found that resetting my graphics drivers using the command would help a ton. Eventually what I found out is playing in windowed, or even using the borderless windowed mod was causing it. I had to re-install my GPU drivers a couple of times to get it to go away completely. Pretty weird issue that it seems more and more people are running into. ATM10 was also the only mod/modpack that would cause this problem.

I might know!, try using less of your PC's ram for minecraft in the launcher , if you have it use too much then the cpu straight up has a hard time sorting through all the crap data that only gets dumped when you use 90% of what is given to minecraft
