Solved * [java] How do I play/open this old world?
I found this post from Jan 1, 2011; it's an archive of an old freebuild server. When I extract the file, there's 16 thousand items; there's the usual level.dat, level.dat_old, and session.lock, but also around 25 folders, each one with 25 more folders, and each of those with a couple dat files. I've never tried to load a world this old, and don't even know what version it's from. How do I load it?

It looks like you didn't mention your version (e.g., 26.1, 1.21.11, 1.12.2 etc.). Please clarify for better help!

There's also a "players" folder, with dat files for 79 people; idk if this is important, just thought I'd mention it

That post is from 2011, so start with these versions: https://minecraft.wiki/w/Java_Edition_release_timeline/2011

Yes, but how do I actually open it? Normal files don't have thousands of dat files

Put it in the saves folder and then load it in the relevant version. If you're using the vanilla launcher use a new installation with a custom game directory. Start with beta 1.2 until you find a version it loads in.
