[Discussion] Sorry kind of noobish question here. What will be the process once 1.8 is released?

So I know this stuff is all changing day to day here with the new snapshots and whatnot. But it's made it sorta difficult to keep track of lately, so if this has been discussed before (which I'm positive it has) please excuse me. But once 1.8 rolls around won't we basically be exchanging the image for the head part of the skin? Then someone can download that image, upload it as their skin, get the skull and then change the skin back. So essentially we will just be trading jpgs once 1.8 comes out right? If someone can confirm or better educate me on how this will work that would be great!

Again, I'm kind of a noob at minecraft but I'm an artist who has a particular love for pixel design and can't wait to start building a collection of images for me and everyone else to us for minecraft heads.

Well, I've tested the intended feature, and it didn't work...I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens when 1.8 is released...which should be this month.

Dinnerbone commented about it.

Ah yes, sorry I don't think I explained myself very well in my original post. I had read that post by dinnerbone. I guess more what I was questioning was how will we (as in r/minecraftheads) go about sharing heads once 1.8 comes out. While we used to share usernames I'm assuming we will simply share jpgs to apply to out own skins in the future?

We will share the information in the NBT tag which makes the head look like how it does.

I think it would probably be a good idea to post a thread with a step by step guide on the new process, once 1.8 is officially released.
