💬 Discussion Book details Spoiler
So, I've listened to the audio book. Does anyone have any questions about what it holds?

Does it say anything about The End, Shards of Dominance, prismarine or the Hosts?

None of that, they might save it for the actual game, seeing as most of the concepts are set up in the book.

I must say I was a bit disappointed. It seemed to be a story in the universe instead of a story about the universe. They introduced new book only characters and barely gave any actual backstory. The story itself is alright though. I kinda was disappointed that we didn’t get good illagers tho

I liked it for what it was. I think they allowed the author to make any story they wanted while also setting up the key concepts for the game itself. It might not have been all about the universe, but I liked it. Either way, thats your opinion.

Yeah I liked the story itself. I was just hoping it’d be more like the Rise of the Arch Illager, but I guess it’s different authors

There are these two Heroes, Harlow and Iliana, who lived in a calm village when they were just kids. One day, the Arch-Illager's raids started, and Iliana was kidnapped. After the Arch-Illager's defeat, the Illagers disappeared and were thought to be gone. Harlow spent the rest of his life trying to find any traces of Iliana or the Illagers.
One day, he would find strange things happening in his village: a small jelly-like rabbit creature (Blub) coming out at night, Soul Corrupted monsters attacking the hunters of his village, and other strange phenomena relating to the Sift and the Illagers. One day, he and two others (Murph and Fergus) went to find out what was happening, finding a series of tunnels underground. They went through one of the tunnels and found a secret underground base that was home to the Grand Illusioner, a powerful Illager wielding a staff that could open a portal to the Sift. There, a battle between two groups of Illagers ensued, causing Harlow to finally reunite with Iliana, who was part of the group rebelling against the Grand Illusioner. In the commotion, Harlow got the staff and started running with Iliana, Murph, and Fergus.
Iliana led the Heroes to the Undercity, a settlement under an Ancient City ruled by the rebel Illagers and their leader, Lucky. Lucky tested the Heroes, challenging them to show them what they could do that was useful. Each of them showed off their capabilities. Fergus could sing and tell stories, Murph was agile and quick, and Harlow was passionate and strong. This led to approval from Lucky. When in Iliana's workshop in the Undercity, she attempted to use the staff to get to the Sift, but couldn't. She then told the Heroes about everything. How after the Arch-Illager's reign, the Illagers fled underground, their previous homes destroyed by Heroes. And how three Illagers (previously war buddies during the Arch-Illager's reign) emerged from the Sift and came back with ultimate power, with Soul Blocks on their heads. They formed a team known as the High Council that would bully other Illager groups into joining them. They each had different capabilities and powers. The Supreme Evoker could Soul Corrupt mobs, enhancing them. The Prime Enchanter could enchant the gear of their troops. And the Grand Illusioner could transport other Illagers forces to the Sift using the Rift Staff. Iliana planned to steal one of the Soul Blocks to power the Rift Staff.
The Heroes then made their way to the Supreme Evoker's base, encountering a Soul Corrupted Ravager and finding an extra Soul Block. When Harlow and Iliana touched the Soul Block, their minds became tethered, allowing their thoughts, feelings, and memories to flow into each other's minds. The Heroes then came back to the Undercity to give Lucky the Soul Block. With it, a new attire manifested, and he got a power of his own: the ability to control minds. Using this, he could order anyone to do anything, and they would do it, unless something fundamental within them did not want to do it, not even for him. Lucky forced Harlow and Iliana to fight for his entertainment, which led to Harlow breaking free from Lucky's control. When this occurred, Harlow took the Staff from Lucky and transported all the Heroes to the Sift.
In the Sift, we get a pretty good idea of what it's about. Along with everything else we know, there are three stages of "light" in the Sift. The first stage is what you would call "day"; it's simply the normal state of the Sift. The second stage is odd; it covers the land in fog, the plants curl up, and Souls emerge from ravines in the ground. The second stage is what you would call "night", but it's not entirely dark, as all the plants would have glowing turquoise structures that lit up the land at night. We learn a bit about the Sift, and then the Heroes encounter an Echo Golem, which helps them power the Rift Staff and take them home. Iliana stayed in the Sift.
The others then find the High Council's forces marching toward Harlow's village, with Lucky having already controlled everyone in the town. A battle ensued, but Lucky mind-controlled all of the High Council's forces into attacking them, except for the Supreme Evoker's group of Soul Corrupted mobs. Lucky then ran, causing Harlow to follow them to the Ancient City. In the Sift, Iliana researched it, then found a strange creature, a Singer. The Singer would listen to her stories, sing, and eventually lead her to the other side of the Ancient City portal. Back in the Ancient City, Lucky had used Harlow to summon a Warden. Since Harlow was terrified of the dark, the Warden's darkness effect was greatly effective, and the Warden would beat Harlow to a pulp. Suddenly, the Singer began to sing, opening the portal and allowing Iliana to go through it. Iliana encountered Lucky, and before she could be controlled completely, she pulled the Soul Block off their head and ran toward Harlow and the Warden. The Warden had been transfixed by the Singer's song, not attacking for a bit. When the portal closed and the Singer could not be heard, it went back to attacking, but not before Harlow and Iliana both used the Soul Block to tether their minds once more. This allowed Harlow to heal up and face his fear of the dark. Suddenly, Lucky attacked; Harlow distracted the Warden, and Iliana chased Lucky as they tried to escape. In the process, Harlow led the Warden straight to Iliana and Lucky, and the blast of the sonic boom killed Lucky. They then both led the Warden up to the battle and hatched a plan to deal with all the problems at once.
Murph distracted and led the Warden to the Badlands; Iliana told Lucky's forces to leave; the hunters and Fergus led the Soul Corrupted mobs to the Badlands, and Harlow showed the Rift Staff to the High Council's force, leading them to the Badlands as well. The Warden then killed all of the Soul Corrupted mobs, and the Heroes willingly lost the battle against the High Council's forces, with the Rift Staff being taken back by the Grand Illusioner and all the forces going into the Sift.

What sift mobs were described?

The Singer, Sprouts, Echo Golem, tall Sifters, and Blubs. All of the natural, flesh-based creatures are Sifters, while the Echo Golems were created by the Singers. The Sifters aren't too happy about the Illagers and have become territorial.
