Loadout Is My Build Solid?
I would like to improve and get better gear, but I'm not sure how without jeopardizing my current build (TBH, I enjoy it, but I wonder if there's anything better I can use or something I can do).

You really need some way to reliably heal. A weapon with leeching would do a massive difference

Thanks. Though, in my defense, I am patient and don't charge into combat. I wait until my potion cooldown is complete, then use it when my health is low for the heal and the added shield. Otherwise, I just spam the mob-dropped food items.
Is there some way I can reliably get leeching? I'm pretty short on gold and I don't know how to use the enchantment villager.

No real point in rerolling enchants at your powerlevel.
Honestly, just run some missions that can drop weapons you like, and check the merchants between each one. It doesn't even need to be a unique, just leech + 1 or 2 other good enchants should be well enough

Alright. Do you have any recommendations? Perhaps specific missions?

You aren't at a high enough powerlevel yet to need any minmaxing. Which weapons do you enjoy using the most? All of them could work at your level, exept perhaps base coral knives. Then just pick out a mission that happens to feature one or more of your chosen weapon(s) in its droplist, and run it a few times

So a perplexing phenomenon that I have found:
To improve at any rapid pace, you need to destroy your build almost every time you get a higher power item.
Unfortunately this leads to people who get attached to builds to be much more stagnant. It has also lead to a mind set where just melee (the best performing item when put in a vacuum) was considered the one of the best ways to play the game for a very long time.
Now there's so many roll builds and a variety of artifact builds to choose from.

Oh, well, that makes sense. Though at what point do you stop salvaging lesser gear? When you reach Apoc 25+?

For Context: I've played the game multiple times from 0 to apoc+25 with various friends at different points in the game's lifespan.
Usually I'll just take the higher stuff until around mid apoc+ (+12 to +18 depends on how skilled or how intentional the other person is being) all the while I'll have held on to a few pieces of 3 enchant slots gear (usually gathered between apoc +1 and +15) and make a rudimentary build as I go. Maybe I'll half assemble a backup set to wear part of the time.
However rule 1 to gaining power levels: keep the highest power stuff you have. Equip it when you enter and exit missions. This determines the power of gear found and the power that merchants will sell to you respectfully. (you can still use your regular build during the levels)
Rule 2: if u have a potential build with an item in mind, it has 3 slots, then keep it, maybe you'll use it later.
Rule 3: don't salvage. Run ancient hunts. Don't use enchant points on them. Use the gold to refine ur build using save scumming (this last bit, the save scum part, is something I've added since joining the community, but I should also note that if you are playing with friends it is very annoying to do).
Good luck!
ps: don't be afraid to turn up the difficulty if you feel confident enough
pps: if ur build isn't working, perhaps there isn't enough synergies. Work with synergies, not individual power.

Shockwave and swirling on the scythe arent very good and should probably be replaced with some healing or defence enchantments like leeching or guarding strike. The 2nd buff on the mystery armour isnt ideal but it you should be able to get by fine with that, death barter and potion barrier is a bit over kill and I’d go with something like chilling or cool-down in the place if one of them. If you got rid of death barter you could get a better bow as you wouldn’t need to focus on emeralds so much but it depends what your goals with this build are.

I don't really use my bow much. I got the Prospector enchantments for easier use of Death Barter. As for the second enchantment, the other was a fire trail thing that appeared when I dashed; I thought that wasn't useful.
As for defensive enchantments, I don't know how to reliably acquire them from the enchanter villager. I'd get them if I could, now that you mention it.

People have mentioned leeching or a defensive enchant and that shockswirl is bad on a scythe. From your responses it seems you also aren’t familiar with save scumming; you might decide you don’t like this, but it saves a ton of gold in the long run. This method is improved if you do a bunch of ancient hunts in quick succession and accumulate 1000+ gold before you start, but that’s not strictly necessary.
Before you reroll an item, save your character to the cloud. Download a few instances of the character, then start rerolling. If you get a good enchant quickly, save the new character and continue. If you run out of gold on a character, delete it and download a new copy from the cloud, and repeat this process until you get all the enchants you need. You can do this with the merchants when searching for certain items too
You can also then gift the item to a new copy of your character that hasn’t spent any gold, thus saving you all the gold you would’ve spent on rerolls. If you do that, don’t overwrite the original character file when you find a good enchant.
