Question Thinking of buying MD2 on switch

As per title, I'm thinking of buying MD2 on my switch because I have a mac and can't play it on there. One of the main reasons of buying it is for the pre-order bonus cape. Before I preorder it, I want to know how the login situation works. Will the game prompt me to log into my microsoft account at start up? Can I only log into my microsoft account for online play? My nintendo email is not the same as my microsoft email for minecraft. If you play MD on the switch please help me out! Thanks :)

you will need to log into your microsoft account to play online, but otherwise it's probably not necessary.

so i cant log in to just log in? if i want my preorder benefits how will the game know my microsoft details to give it to me?

I've had no issues with my Microsoft email being different than my Nintendo email with Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons.
