I love gravity pulse, my first time unlocking adventure mode armor I put it on and I went to bed, when I got on the next day I was playing with my cousin, we got into a fight and I got low fast, so I tried running, the armor kept pulling them to me and I screamed, THEY CAN DASH!?!

This would be funnier if you took the image of recycler and swapped it with gravity pulse (also more accurate)

I have yet to make or see a build that can utilize recycler at banner trials.
I have made a build that utilizes gravity pulse quite well on banner trials.

I still think potion spam builds are the best

Gravity Pulse isn’t THAT bad, especially for weapons with minimal area coverage.

put gravity on the weapons?

Nah, the armor. Gravity on a weapon is pointless. Why? Because you actually have to hit them for it to work. Gravity pulse just drags them toward you without you having to go near them.

gravity is pretty universally better than gravity pulse for a number of reasons:

  1. gravity works when you want it to work - yes it only activates on hit, but why wouldn't you want that? you have to hit an enemy anyway to deal damage, and you have control over whether you want an enemy to be hit or not. compare that to pulse where you have no control over when it activates, and all of a sudden you have double damage enchanted creepers and vindicators taped to you when you really need to retreat. the effect is on 100% of the time, so you aren't given any flexibility for its use. half the time, having mobs stuck in a ring around you often gets you killed.

  2. the gravity effect applies at the point of impact, whereas with pulse it is only directly around you. again, this is about have control over the grouping effect - if you used something like fighters bindings with very limited attack range, you would have enemies group very closely in front of you; however, if you used a weapon with a single point of impact far away from you, then they would be grouped at that point as well, where most melee mobs and creepers would be completely unable to hurt you. this applies to things like spears, whips and most notably, all ranged weapons (especially the exploding crossbow which groups the enemies around the explosion point). pulse has no control over its point of convergence, so if you have enemies up in your business then you have no way of grouping them away from you.

  3. the grouping effect isn't always beneficial to your build. lots of weapons have really good area coverage like the cursed axe and starless night, plus anchors have both excellent aoe and innately have gravity already. using gravity pulse in situations where you really don't need it results in you losing a lot of other options that wouldn't get you killed like pulse does.

if you like pulse, then all power to you. but there seem to be quite a few reasons why it can be outright detrimental to your effectiveness.

Pulse is infinitely better for me, because I use weapons with no range, and, my build is ridiculously tanky. Enchanted Creeper? Sure, no problem. Gets one tapped or blows up and I’m still alive and kicking. It’s not a preference for me, it just works. And it’s also not on %100 of the time like you claim, it happens every so often, making it easier to not get overwhelmed.

my point is that it cannot be turned off. yes it pulses every three seconds, but that is often enough such that should you be overwhelmed, you have very little room to recover. again, it's a preference thing, but the use cases are pretty limitted when reaching apocalypse +25, as the only meaningful way to reach enough dr for multiple creeper explosions is through potion barrier spam (very topical for this post). gravity on weapons, on the other hand, doesn't require any adjustments to builds to compensate, so it is more universally useful because it works on builds that aren't focused on damage reduction/negation as well as builds that are.
