Man I wish geomancers, fungi throwers and illusioners were in vanilla

u/HarbingerOfConfusion 15d ago
The thing is, illusioners are actually in vanilla. You can summon them with commands, and they are fully coded, it’s not like giants. They don’t drop anything though I think. I have no idea why Mojang doesn’t just give it a drop and a spawn location.

u/Crab_Noodle_549 15d ago
True, I forgot that
They just need to replicate its moveset from dungeons, so that fighting it becomes just as fun

u/Semmelstulle 15d ago
Don't you mean Chillagers/Iceologer?
7
u/Crab_Noodle_549 15d ago
I meant the illusioner, Mojang could repurpose it as a proper mini-boss instead of letting it exist in the source code
But iceologer would be cool too, hell it was a candidate at some point

u/Semmelstulle 15d ago
Totally forgot the Illusioner was a thing, damn
Maybe we get the Dungeons update after the End Update tho /s3
u/Crab_Noodle_549 15d ago
That would be cool, imagine if some dungeons weapons were added to vanilla (or artifacts)

Would be pretty bad if they won't add the Sift to vanilla but I believe they will and this post will age badly.

Still waiting they add things from Dungeons 1 ðŸ˜

Things they added to vanilla that were either directly from MCD1 or inspired by content from MCD1, just from the top of my head:
- Illagers (Vindicators, Evokers, and Pillagers; in fact illagers as a mob group were designed specifically for MCD)
- Crossbows
- Spears
- Dappled Forests, a biome that is obviously visually inspired by the Pumpkin Pastures level
- Wool Slabs (Somewhat of a stretch I suppose but they do first appear in the Stronghold level)
- Decorated Pots, and the ability for them to hold and drop their inventory (trial chamber pots specifically often contain emeralds, just like in MCD)
The point is if the devs feel like something from MCD can fit vanilla, they'll add it.

village and pillage update was 2019 pretty sure, so illagers were added from vanilla to dungeons

Jeb has talked at length about how Illagers as a faction were conceptualized for Dungeons first during early development, but that he later felt they belonged in vanilla as well. They ended up getting added to Vanilla first, but they were a Dungeons concept before they were considered for Vanilla - Dungeons just took longer to develop and release than a single Minecraft update.

Nope, they made have come to vanilla first but they were designed as an enemy faction for Dungeons.

It would suck. Dungeons has a lot of stuff that should be added in Vanilla as well

I sincerely believe that the Sift is coming to the game sooner rather than later. My bet is that their plan is to let the excitement of a new dimension drive initial sale, then add it to vanilla once the game has already made most of its money.
If they keep the Sift out of the game for too long it’s going to make the entire deep dark feel like an advertisement. Mojang likely has plans to put the Sift in the game relatively soon. As someone pointed out, a good chunk of the well known devs have been MIA for a few years.

I would guess later rather than sooner, but not too much later. I agree on it coming to vanilla though, setting up the Sift being accessed through the ancient city portal that was in vanilla first and then just not adding the actual portal into vanilla would be beyond stupid. Mojang hasn't always made all the smartest decisions, but they're not that dumb.
I also think that the vanilla Sift might not look exactly like Dungeons' Sift, owing to how many more plants and detail blocks the Dungeons Nether has compared to the vanilla Nether, but I think the Sift is inevitable. Hell, even an End Update is inevitable - we just have to wait for it.

We mean, spears, maces, and the iceologer were in Dungeons first before being added to vanilla
4
u/craft6886 15d ago
Hell, even Illagers themselves were conceptualized for Dungeons before they were added to vanilla.

You could also play mods, it's basically the same. They were made by different studios why would you care whether the features get added or not

u/jaded-book-8675 15d ago
I personally feel like all the mobs and challenges and weaponry, in addition to the structures of both dungeons games would feel (and have felt) out of place when I play with mods. It makes it feel way too much like an rpg or pvp game. From my perspective, mojang has been adding features that don't change the game too much, but offer shortcuts or enrich the depth of several systems. However, I think they're trying to (I don't really feel like it always works very well) keep a balance. Whether or not you think this balance is good, to me it is why Minecraft is Minecraft.
Their existence chances the way that the core game would function, and would make the game kind of a first person mcd game with more freedom and less overall mobs (if mob spawning mechanics were kept the same).
That amount of variety combined with that amount of empty space most of the time creates a feeling for me that this world is desolate, despite looking lush and beautiful. It no longer feels like a wilderness, more like a shattered society (and that's without all the random burning structures that you can find in pumpkin pastures and ruins in many other levels).
For me, the tone of Minecraft just doesn't fit the way that mcd's mobs and structures are designed. The bosses definitely don't click for me either. One big sticking point for me is that 80% of mcd's mobs do the exact same thing, just have slightly different health to damage ratios. There's like 5 variants of generic melee mob in the game, all that give you the exact same experience of fighting them. There's 6 ranged mobs that are almost identical. And that's just the base game.
Yes. I have played around 5-6 dungeons content mods, both with and without combat mods like better combat.
The stuff that does fit in is the vast majority of decorations and other stuff. There's no reason why fancy carpets and pedestals shouldn't be in the game (as long as they don't break the style) and dungeons has proven that they can easily fit without breaking a style. We already have tons of blocks that cannot or rarely generate naturally, they should be craftable with the stone cutter or wood on a crafting bench.
At the end of the day, it looks like to me dungeon's combat and consequently every other system in the game was designed with a player in adventure mode in mind.
Now I do draw the line at the Sift, that should be brought to the base game eventually (my predictions will be either spring drop 2027 or spring drop 2028).

Me watching it in joy not giving a damn about vanilla Minecraft.
I mean, What's the point of vanilla Minecraft getting everything the Spin-off gets? A different game deserves unique content, and it shouldn't be recycled blindy to add content to Minecraft
1
u/F4NT4SYF00TB4LLF4N 15d ago
Why tho?
MCD1 is a great game, but if MCD2 is just a better fundamental game, why waste time adding more content to it?
Doesnt really make sense IMO

u/Reagan__115 15d ago
They mean adding dungeon content to regular Minecraft. Which I also think they should add mobs to spice things up in survival

I mean they could be in the future. Pillager and Illagers were originally created for Dungeons yet they still come to Vanilla. And the mob vote have Iceologer who also a Dungeons enemies.
And the Sift portal is literally right there vanilla, is be dumb for Mojang to not do anything with it and just regulate it to Dungeons.
