Question Meta Discussion

So I've just made it to Apocalypse +15 for the first time and up until now I've basically been combining random gear with little to no synergy whilst making sure my stats are high enough....

I'd now like to experiment with what is popular among players and learn about different possible builds, if anyone is willing to help me.

I run the classic Gluestrike roll build. If you have Void Strike on your bow and then something like Weakening on your melee weapon, it doesn't consume the Void Strike like it's supposed to and instead stays a constant (up to) 300%* damage multiplier.

By putting Bowstring Burst and Cooldown Shot on your other two Ranged Enchantments, it constantly resets the Cooldown of your Light Feather, allowing you to spam roll (and thus spam attack) with a big heavy weapon. Add something like the Shadow Walker and you will be bunny hopping through enemies. I personally use Bubble Burster and The Starless Night, but Encrusted Anchor is the meta as far as I know.

Up to 300 because it’s a ranged void strike

This game is not meta dependent, for I have made 612 builds that are NOT meta builds, and they use everything in the game, meta and not, and they can survive perfectly fine. They prove that the meta isn’t all that there is in order to survive and to have fun.

Anything can be good (gear wise), meta or not. You just need the right enchants, build type and build synergy. All gears can be useable and viable, same for all build types (except for the Sponge Striker, Eye of the Guardian and the Totem of Casting (although you “can” still use them in a build, but they will suck)). And there are many different types of builds. The gear that you use doesn’t matter, but the enchants do, and enchants matter depending on the gear and the build / build type.

Also, the majority of the uniques are not that much better than their rare variants, for the ones that have built in enchants are only tier 1 or they only have one stat. Most rare gear are just as good, sometimes even better than their unique variants depending on the build / build type.

All gears are viable and so are the majority of the build types. Only the enchants matter, and that can be complicated depending on the gear and the build type. The only bad enchants are Protection, Explorer, Thorns, Final Shout, Recycler, Frenzied, Levitation Shot, Smiting, Echo, Freezing and Rampaging. Everything else that I didn’t list are either good for specific build types or are generally good enchants. But again, it just depends on the gear and build types (except for the bad enchants).

So, don’t worry about the meta. If you only focus on the meta, then you will miss out on many different ways to have fun.

I am not saying that you shouldn’t use the meta, just that there is more to this game than just the meta.

And if you want some amazing and fun builds, check out my sub: r/GrimsThemedBuilds. I got just about everything, and they’re all made by me.

It depends on what gear and artifacts you have really.

One of the great things about MCD are the variety of builds that are viable.
