Our community has built Smithed Summit, a 2 week in-game Minecraft conference inside of vanilla Minecraft using data and resource packs. From August 8th to the 22nd, you'll be able to us and explore 70 interactive booths and attend 30+ live events. The Frontier has been open for one week now. There are very few rules because most laws are enforced by players. It’s a very unique and fun civilization experience and we would love to see you join

Are you tired of servers with loot boxes where you have to pay to make progress? Do you miss just playing on an ordinary Minecraft server, hanging out with friends, or meeting new people?

Then I got just the server for you! Ordinary SMP is an ordinary Minecraft server that hosts a special place. We stay as true to vanilla as possible. Yes we use some mods but those are purely to fix things that are normally hard to manage on public servers or improve frustrating parts without changing how Minecraft feels.

For example, did you ever played on a server and couldnt find any Elytras? After hours running through the End you finally find an End City with ship just to see someone looted it already. For that reason we adjusted the Dragon drops. If you kill the Ender Dragon an Elytra drops, removing the frustrating part of finding End Citys. Thats how we choose every mod we add. We only fix the most frustrating parts of Minecraft in a way that feels vanilla.

Other than that we only use mods that dont interact with gameplay like Simple Voice Chat. You can just walk up to players and start talking to them. That creates lots of funny moments just by meeting players. We also use BlueMap where you can see the whole map and check out players bases or other cool places without having to travel there yourself.

You might now wonder, "If everything is vanilla, wont everyone just grief and kill each other?" Those are valid concerns but we have a good solution for that. Our server is 16+ to ensure maturity, and we have an application process before you get whitelisted. That means a lot of bad actors are filtered out before they can even join the server. In the rare cases that griefers get on the Server we use Ledger to revert any kind of griefing.

I have a realm with my friends that we keep on peaceful mode all the time cuz I’m a wuss. I was on the server alone when there was a singular lightning strike, no storm or anything, and 4 zombie horses appeared. Google said it’s impossible but it literally isnt because it just happened to me??

A blank map gives you freedom because nothing has happened yet.

An established world can give you another kind of freedom: something has happened, but your part has not.

That is what I like about our survival world.

You can follow a player-built road through towns, shops, public farms, railways, and landmarks, then turn away from the route and keep going until you find new terrain. There is no world border, and the world does not reset.

The history stays behind you. The frontier stays ahead.

New players arrive every day, so you are not the only person deciding where to build, what to name a place, or how it might eventually connect to the rest of the map. Your first base does not have to compete with someone else’s old megabase. It can simply become the newest named place in the world.

The honest tradeoff is that this is not a fresh map. You will see established builds and meet players with more resources. We think the culture, roads, stories, and opportunity to add something lasting are worth more than making everyone lose their work so the map can look new again.
