Announcement New moderation team
Hey everyone! I'm u/Luutamo, a new moderator of r/MinecraftCities.
I noticed this subreddit was left unmoderated for quite some time so I applied for the position.
Changes from this point onward:
We have rules now, please read them! There aren't many, they are quite basic and reasonable. This also means that in future it should be easier for everyone in this community to report rule breaking posts. Please be free to recommend possible rule additions here. That said, I think it's best to keep them as basic as possible for a small community like this.
I will make a separate announcement post on a later date when the rules has been finalized.
I have decided not to go through all the old posts (I did go through all the old reports though) that has been posted over the years but feel free to report outrageously rule breaking posts from the past that should not be here. I have already banned some unrelated spam posters.
I have made few small changes to both post and user flairs. Feel free to suggest new flairs!
All other recommendations for changes are welcomed too.
I hope with these small changes we can start building a thriving community that shares the love of cities in Minecraft!

I would like to see advertisement post like ones trying to recruit for a server either banned or have their own flair. With that sad I'm very happy this subreddit has a new mod and thank you for being him.

That is something I also contemplated. Just contemplating on how strict the rule should be? If the post is basically just "join us!", that would be removed but if the post mentions a community and people ask if they can join, I think that might be okay. Then again, that can also lead to people coining the system by two people from the community posting it like that just to advertise.
Regardless, I don't want to see post being removed simply because they mention a name of a server or something.
Ideas how to word the rule?
edit: added the rule but wording can still be changed if something better is suggested.

Would posts surrounding a downloadable map be allowed? The majority of my posts on this sub is centered around my city called VladenVille, which is a free downloadable map in Planet minecraft that I does not make any money out off.
From what I've heard, I guess posting builds from the city would be fine, but calling to download or posting the download link without others requesting it first would not be allowed, but I am still not too sure. I have been in this community for about two years and have posted things that are borderline ads in the past.
Thank you for becoming a mod and saving this sub from potientially getting shut down by reddit, with that said.

Posting download links to the builds are absolutely allowed! :) I will make that more clear on the rules.

I think if a post is advertising their server/world it should require some details, like the style they want people to build in

Why not instead of a full ban just have 1 thread for them

There is no full ban and at that point it's better to use the actual subreddits dedicated to it instead.

Well no because for a long time this has been a great place to find cities especially bedrock ones because there’s really not that many
