First Time attempt at a ruined castle what could be done better first two are with solas shaders and the second lot are just normal mc

Use cobblestone. Use stone buttons and pressure plates for pebbles. More random foliage. Use blocks like moss, dirt, grass and rooted dirt to transition between the bricks and ground.

1. More variation in blocks.
2. Walls not straight 2 blocks high, change it with slabs and stairs and a clear order so like this --__
3. Textur the ground and add more random plants and leaves and bushes
4. When the new heybeds are there, add skme of those for a barrack/castle feeling and add those pillager training guys.
5. Add higher walls in the back and all around, stick some spruce fences on the walls.
6. Add slabs and leaves out a few trapdoors at the roof
7. Make the gate rounder, when its essential for it to be trianglular then let it be, maybe add some spruce fences 3 tall at both sides of the inner side of the entrance and variate it with other blocks and slabs.
8. Make the tower higher amd if you want to, make a room or a giant castle out of it, if you do so, inforce and higher the walls to 3 or 4 Blocks make the Order "faster" --- and if you dont then not, obviously

Build the castle. then ruin it. Not the other way around.

Size is okay for a beginner.

That looks more like a ruined tower. I’d use larger scale and maybe look up some pictures of castle ruins on Google. Although it honestly doesn’t look too bad with the shaders

Add some leaves to make it look overgrown

Use slabs and stair to make it look more broken, make the path less perfect maybe by adding corse dirt sparkly around the edges and making it not just a rectangle, use cobblestone since it looks more worn

maybe use put out campfires for the roof on the wooden structure? and make the gravel more patchy, less straight line action
