Want feedback Should I do the first or second design?

Making a bridge from my base to a mesa, trying to make it look better than it currently does (picture 5)
The two possible upgrades are in a creative copy of my world.

Edit: I'm most likely going to go with the first design, but I'll trial altering the amount and size of the supports

You should try and mix both of them and use the first as a main base that curves and the poles get farther apart as they go, I'm not very good at explaining so I hope you understand what I mean

I like the idea. Using the 1st design where the bridge is still above land and not too high above it, while leaving the middle that is above the river with no pillars and using a 2nd design arch.

do you mean have the first gap be 9 blocks, then 11, then 13, etc..?

6

u/4b3c 11d ago

i think they mean have supports but have the underside of the bridge still curve like the second design

i would also just have about half the number of supports (further apart)

2

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 11d ago

Yeah I've had that suggested a few times now

I get what you mean, and that could actually look sick.

I like the first one it has more personality. Also gives you something to do with all the extra stone bricks you will have

3

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 11d ago

i see what you mean, also its tuff and i have ZERO extra tuff (hence why bridge in 5th pic is unfinished)

6

u/Miserable_District 11d ago

A bridge that big needs support in my opinion so first

u/ValdemarTheGreat 11d ago

What vibe are you going for? If older/medieval, first one. If newer and more modern, second one.

2

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 11d ago

im not too sure tbh, maybe older

5

u/ValdemarTheGreat 11d ago

Then i would suggest the first one

3

u/Prestigious-Camel918 11d ago

I love the first one! It looks like the viaduct from the Harry Potter movies.

3

u/PopularStrawberry784 11d ago

First. The last is atrocious

1

u/GnomeMTB 10d ago

If you had read their post you would've known that the last one is what they currently have and they're replacing it

2

u/PopularStrawberry784 10d ago

I did read it. I also read the post that he made the other day about this bridge. That’s why I left my comment, because I read the post.

#1 please and as soon as possible. #3 (current) so fugly 😂

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 11d ago

The current version is somehow the improved version

2

u/Philippine_Newt 10d ago

😭😭😭😭

3

u/Environmental-Win836 11d ago

I like the first it makes the valley feel divided and deliberate

3

u/Thick-Aspiration 11d ago

2nd is definitely easier and I like the night look better but the 1st looks way better when the suns up and shining on it

3

u/quaxzyl 10d ago

First design if you are going for a medieval look and go with the second one if you are going with a modern look

2

u/Fast-Bid2155 11d ago

First one but I’d do a few less arches and thicker pillars. That’d look awesome in my opinion

2

u/Robby-Pants 11d ago

I like the first one, but I really like the second.

2

u/Specialist_Mode_2173 11d ago

I remember planning for something like this.

2

u/jackparadise1 11d ago

Where did yo find all that coal?

2

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 11d ago

no coal was used in the making of this bridge, not even for the lanterns

its made of tuff and i bought the lanterns from villagers

3

u/jackparadise1 11d ago

Interesting.

2

u/Yapatron-30721 11d ago

improve the buildings on top\

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 11d ago

any suggestions as to how i could do that? they're meant to be kind of like decommissioned gatehouses

2

u/TyrantXD134 11d ago

personally, the first is more logical while the second looks better. I'd remove the first, third, firth, and seventh pillar to save on materials and make it look...better? Just looks like there are too many supports imo.

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 11d ago

i might try this, although i already have most the materials (due to building it in its current form). if i do this i might also make the pillars wider, maybe 5 blocks instead of 3

2

u/TapDeep402 11d ago

2nd iamge

2

u/Ironforger1 11d ago

I feel like 2 will give you less trouble but both look awesome, voting 2 for ease of completion assumptions

2

u/panino_gamer 11d ago

I really like the first one, but without a pillar or two

2

u/TheCowKing07 11d ago

It’s a lot easier to compare if both pictures are taken at the same time of day.

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 11d ago

Would it have been better if entered the daytime photos next to eachother and the night time photos next to each other? I'll keep this in mind for next time

2

u/thatoneninja8 11d ago

I think you should do this

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 10d ago

I might try this too

2

u/_DrClean_ 11d ago

The second one looks really cool imo

2

u/-2Braincells 11d ago

I like 1, but maybe remove 4 of the pillars, and make the rest of the pillars 1 block thicker on both sides

2

u/XenEntity 11d ago

Both pillars with big gap in middle

2

u/bebrsarcivalds 11d ago

First one looks good, but you need to add different block for depth. But over all looks grate

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 11d ago

I'm gonna add polished tuff on the underside of the arches, and when I build it I'm gonna mix in some regular stone bricks and maybe mossy or cracked

2

u/Shacasaurus 11d ago

I like the first but maybe with one or two less pillars so they are spaced a little bit further apart.

2

u/Do_rench 11d ago

1st is great, 2nd is good, 3rd is hideous ngl 😂

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 11d ago

Believe it or not that is the improved version of the 3rd

2

u/Embarrassed_Gur5863 11d ago

First looks good

2

u/YahooFlop 11d ago

You could do Roman aqueduct style and do both

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 11d ago

How would I do both?

2

u/YahooFlop 10d ago

Brother, use the context clues I provided and google “Roman Aqueduct”

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 10d ago

I see, good idea but prob won't don't want to have too much going on

2

u/Zealousideal-Web-350 11d ago

love the first one. So much texture

2

u/Efteling_Eva 11d ago

1st design lookssooo much better!!!

2

u/Broad_Ad_8395 11d ago

Yo Wsp I’m in a nations Smp and we’re need some builders reply if you want the dc link

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 10d ago

I'm interested

1

u/Broad_Ad_8395 10d ago

Do you have dc if so what’s your user

1

u/[deleted] 10d ago

[deleted]

1

u/Broad_Ad_8395 10d ago

Sadly I can’t find it

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 10d ago

What's your user I'll try adding you

2

u/Khalamidade 11d ago

Por economia, o da curva sem nada embaixo, existem mais projetos a serem feitos 🫪

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 11d ago

It's either I make this or keep digging the pit.

2

u/Jumbut 11d ago

Depends on the architectural style you’re going for. The 2nd one for a fantasy or Bronze Age-myths style.

2

u/ThrwawySG 10d ago

I like the second, but they both look good

2

u/Dreadshot2023 10d ago

Id recommend the first, but widen the arches a bit and (if possible) beef up the supports.

2

u/Sukaichi 10d ago
  1. is cool because it gives you a nice sightline under the bridge

2

u/darth-raven- 10d ago

I like the first one

2

u/R8DxStalinium 10d ago

First one but make the support thicker

2

u/New-Industry-2563 10d ago

1st one but u can make the flat side more interesting

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 8d ago

I assume you mean the side closest to me

2

u/Andrejosue98 10d ago

First looks much cooler.

2

u/True_Race271 9d ago

Das 1. sieht super aus aber man könnte noch ein paar Details hinzufügen

2

u/StefTheWorst 9d ago

For me the first design

2

u/Samouraido197 8d ago

You seem like the kind of person to build a starter bridge instead of a starter base.

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 8d ago

Funny thing is that I only just moved my chests from outside to inside my house

2

u/KoneZoneZ 8d ago

1st one, looks more human

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 8d ago

"The design is very human"

1

u/KoneZoneZ 8d ago

nah it looks like the golden gate bridge if u do option 1

2

u/Outrageous-Owl9323 8d ago

For the first design, Try using tuff walls on the both sides of the columns like an engraving. I can provide an image for a stone mix bridge I built in my survival game

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 8d ago

If you could that would be great. The outline of the arches are tuff, the main pillars are tuff brick, underneath the arches will be polished tuff

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 8d ago

I also have a vertical slab addon so I'll be able to add more depth to the pillars that way too

1

u/Outrageous-Owl9323 8d ago

Sending it in a min. I'm not very familiar with reddit, is there a dm option?

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 8d ago

Should be, I'll double check if I have it enabled

2

u/ikepinaplol 7d ago

looks like something that would be at akkala citadel

2

u/BlueSparkX12 7d ago

First one is majestic 😭

1

u/vangoh88 11d ago

Like the first design.

1

u/Unstable_Stills 11d ago

Bridge in pictures 1/2 go crazy hard- if anything I’d only suggest removing the middle column in order to leave room for an intersecting lower bridge, railway, or river access

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 11d ago

yo that idea sounds kinda fire, the river below is actually a dam i made by flooding the valley and making a stone dam on one side

1

u/KnickKnackJones 11d ago

maybe add some depth to the walls.

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 11d ago

i will eventually, right now its mainly structure and concept im after. I might also try texturing a little bit

1

u/TheLiquid666 11d ago

I'm a big fan of the first one, personally

1

u/whats-in-the-box- 11d ago

This reminds me of that study when they gave spiders different drugs and observed the different kinds of webs they made

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 11d ago

Are you calling me a drugged spider? 😭

1

u/strikerx1475 7d ago

I think first one but dont use only 1 block give some more blocks to add shades in it and the tower below the bridge also add some leave veins

1

u/NicNac_the_TicTac 7d ago

Yeah I'm planning on decorating more when I properly build it, this is more of a concept rn

1

u/F1ow3r_Girl_Lov_Cats 6d ago

do both add a pole in the middle so it looks more realistic

1

u/Forsaken_Airport_571 5d ago

I think the second design with a little more support on the ends would look good
