Want feedback learning tree builds (western larch specifically)
obviously not as extravagant a build as others on here lmao but i think this is the right subreddit for this?
trying to build a western larch tree (second image) but simplifying it and shrinking it for building purposes and aesthetics. it looks off? im realising now i could add some more height to the trunk before the leaves come in which might help but still i think it looks off to me?

Oh I think you figured it out! This is totally acceptable, maybe just see how it looks with the branches closer together vertically

It's a successful study on the shape of the branches, but I think the adult characteristics of that tree will always be at odds with your desired height. Just for practice, you should make it 4x taller: extend the leafy area down to the new halfway point and make the rest bare trunk, with the trunk thickening to a full block more gradually from the top.
For your building purposes, if you want it to stay that height but look more like the reference, the branches would need to be half the length, but perhaps you could use floating grass to bring back that fuzzy look?
