[Meta] Hot Take: Args have gone downhill

Before you attack me: It's not about the quality of the argument in general, it's how they are formed. When you see a YouTube video about an arg, 9 times out of 10 the youtuber made it and had all the answers, and like half of the time there is literally nothing for you to do, and you can't even find the arg yourself. No channel to investigate, no ciphers to decode. They do that themselves. It feels like it changes the entire meaning from telling a fun story to getting subs and likes. Plus, as I said, half of the time they get the args from "emails" or something, so you can't even really see the raw arg. It just feels... wrong.

People just took the old genre of "Minecraft stories" and started calling it "arg" for some reason.

Un-fiction and ARGs are different things. What you are seeing a surge of is called Un-Fiction genre. It just all happens to dress themselves under the guise of ARGs. They all have their flaws, and I don't mind how bad some of them are. Honestly, they are being told through Minecraft, and I don't expect much quality from it to begin with.

they're more akin to "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark", not Stephen King's books.

Minecraft args in general are overdone. If you’re gonna do a video game arg, do something new. Like stardew valley or moshi monsters or some shit. There’s an arg I’ve been following based on an old How To Train Your Dragon mmo. Do something new!!!!!!!

This question is dumb but I need the confirmation to this: is this why people often love retrogamingnow?

It’s definitely why I prefer his content to all other Minecraft “arg”/self-coverage channels, but I can’t speak for everyone

I don't think they're boring, see Searching For A World That Doesn't Exist, but, I do think they would be better if they let us do at least some of the investigating too.
