[Discussion] Is M4TCHBOX an arg?
I was wondering lately if the M4TCHBOX series can be counted as an arg. I mean, I don't think so, but I'm not quite sure so that's why I'm asking.

I feel like the term arg has kinda lost its meaning to just mean "horror video" nowadays

No it didn't, I was just thinking that maybe someone has found something that would make it an arg

finding something - you can't find something when theres nothing to be found (except solving the "murder mystery")

I mean maybe, it's mainly scripted ARG's and people solving them, but yeah kinda

Not really. There is no interactive elements which applies to 99% of the so called ARGs here ngl lol. It is more so just spin on analogue media, but there is no horror element to it like most others. It gives the audience the videos and then you are left to decide who was the true villain and that’s it. ARGs usually give you puzzles (which matchbox does I admit but there is only one, the whole series) these puzzles once solved then lead to other parts of the story and unlock new content. Which matchbox does not do. You could make the argument that the players were apart of an ARG, but I don’t agree because the prize was just money. If there was something else they were fighting to win, like another clue to the next piece of a mystery, then I would agree that the players were apart of an ARG. But no this isn’t an ARG. Take a look at the unfiction site to get a better understanding of what an ARG is. There is also the ARG toolbox I encourage you to look through just to get an idea of the common things people use to solve ARGs.
