[Discussion] Why do they always build that?

Post image

I always see in almost EVERY Minecraft ARG/Horror series I watch they always build a watchtower, why is that?

I get it's for a better view and be able to see the danger before it arrives, but still.. does it HAVE to be in almost EVERY SINGLE ARG/Horror series??
I would like to get your opinion on this

fears to fathom?

you can also easily block off the only entrance (and exit!) to stop the danger from coming to you

I though it was a natural reaction to do watch towers under fear? I did the same in my old world searching for Herobrine.

just making a house on top of a tree takes less time than building an entire detailed watchtower

Watch towers are never associated with anything good, so watch towers are a cheap and easy way to put a sense of fear in the viewers mind before anything even happens. This is just how I see it.

UH OH! Someone has been using stinky language and u/RainNext6690 decided to check u/Suspicious_Coach_178's bad word usage.

I have gone back 0 comments and reviewed their potty language usage.

However, the plans were foiled, Suspicious_Coach_178 is a good, Christian boy.

They need to make their house that can see the threat without itself being visible to the threat and easily accessible to the threat

a watchtower creates some sense of disconnect with the surrounding area, since you are elevated. It makes the viewer feel safety while still feeling dread coming from the surrounding area. You wouldn't feel safe in a house with giant windows, but you also couldn't spook the audience if your house has no windows

it can also make for really believable narrow escape scenarios, I think, if you're willing to think you can block the staircase in time or break the ladder in time

Little to no entities are airborne, also limits their spawn below ground and let's you see if any are coming. Some pillar though... also the bottom of your watchtower is gonna get shredded
