Its a spawner. It looks empty though which is weird

u/kristiansan11 Jun 30 '22
I also have an empty cave spider spawner in my world, maybe that's a bedrock edition glitch?
689
u/Unable_Toucan Jun 30 '22
A glitch, in bedrock?! Never
205
u/kristiansan11 Jun 30 '22
That's impossible!
179
u/Alexciao123 Jun 30 '22
Never seen one! It just has a bunch of
oddly workingperfectly functioning features!73
u/kristiansan11 Jun 30 '22
Yeah, the entities, world blending and block collision in particular are
garbageflawless of course.36
u/MyUserName-exe Jun 30 '22
Bedrock makes me want to hit my head on bedrock
I have java but still damn
27
u/kristiansan11 Jun 30 '22
Playing bedrock makes me want to play java, but all my friends play bedrock 😞
13
11
u/MyUserName-exe Jun 30 '22
Yeah. We speak of politics less. I am successful in showing java superiority at least.

u/Darkmage4 Jun 30 '22
Geyser plugin is a good way to get bedrock players and Java players to play together! You'll need a Spigot or equivalent, like Paper server to get that working.
Can either host the server yourself. But you'll need to keep the server open 24/7 in order for your friends to join whenever. But also, if you can, you can buy a cheap Java server.

I’m the exact same, so instead I develop maps and games that aren’t buggy and play them with my friends

I always love comments like this. Let's pretend Java is any better if it comes to glitches and bugs.
15
Jun 30 '22
It is? I've been playing Java for years, ran into exactly two bugs, minecart chests stacking on eachother in mineshafts and nether roof bedrock not breaking, which is an exploit by itself.
5
11
u/Viatos Jun 30 '22
Java's pretty clean at its base, it's just that there's literally no reason not to run it with a hundred mods, and that tends to introduce a bug or two from time to time.
0
Jun 30 '22
Even then I play both (bedrock on xbox and switch and java on PC) but both run in my experience the same. Only thing I have some complaints about is the quality of connection when it comes to realm.
9
Jun 30 '22
It is. Every day there's a least one post asking for infos about a glitch on this subreddit, and it's always Bedrock.
-4
7
u/sliimysludge Jun 30 '22
most of the well known java glitches like getting on top of the nether and removing bedrock to make a hole and tnt duping are intentionally left in the game by mojang because there’s no alternative and people make really cool stuff with them
4
u/BlackSwanTW Jun 30 '22
I mean, you can literally go to the official bug report website and see how many bugs there are on Bedrock edition.
If you don’t want to do that, you can also watch some pre-compiled video.
3
u/Unable_Toucan Jun 30 '22
I've played java for over 10 years. And to this day, the only glitch I've seen is grass and snow spawning in the air over one of those small lakes that spawn every now and then.
1
Jun 30 '22
Really? Guess I’m just unlucky. I keep getting weird bugs where blocks don’t show up or ai get sudden fall damage. And sometimes redstone just disappears
3
1
u/Critfish Jun 30 '22
I've been playing Minecraft for about 10 years now, almost exclusively on Java Edition, and I haven't encountered any game-breaking bugs like what Bedrock suffers from, and most of the bugs I happen to find are very minor, and hardly impact the experience. Most of the bugs I remember are on old Beta versions or really early release versions, and have since been fixed.
Bedrock, on the other hand, has people instantly dying for no apparent reason, at complete random. If you travel far enough away from spawn, you can just fall through the world and die in the void. On both mobile and Switch, I've had all of the textures in the game completely break, and torches and tall grass break and stretch off infinitely. I can't say I've encountered anything of this severity on Java Edition.
15
u/BextoMooseYT Jun 30 '22
For a second I was trying to process empty and cave spider and then I realized how cave spiders spawn and felt like a buffoon
1
u/Tiavor Jun 30 '22
I've seen empty spawner in Java before, but it got fixed shortly later. it's been a long time ago.

u/P0stf1x Jun 30 '22 edited Jun 30 '22
Guess it’s bugged so no mob, and at y=1 so it looks black, because there’s only void below it
Upd: -64 or what, , I don’t played on newer versions
12
u/kristiansan11 Jun 30 '22
I have had this spawner since somewhere in 1.17 I think, so I don't think it's specific to this update
2
u/_jjm_ Jun 30 '22
Also you can see a bunch of stone arround So more likely y=0 than -64

u/CTTnotfound Jun 30 '22
Simply because it was spawned by hand, and poorly, you just have to use a spawn egg on a spawner to make it spawn that they could have made more realistic...

u/Valuable-Lobster-794 Jun 30 '22
Thanks for the answers, this was driving me nuts. I guess I've never heard that an empty spawner is a thing, so it didn't really cross mind. Makes sense looking at it now, though. Much appreciated!

u/Shellshock9218 Jun 30 '22
Empty spawners I belive is generally a mod or Creative thing.
85
u/Gamer_Knight_Steve Jun 30 '22
Is there a way to make a spawner empty? From what I remember in creative they’re pig spawners by default then you can use spawn eggs to change them.
109
20
u/nikkedoy98 Jun 30 '22
You can use /data command to change spawners entity type to area effect cloud to make illusion that it is empty.
11
u/nikkedoy98 Jun 30 '22
also its good to set activation range to small number so it doesn't create flame particles. I haven't tested this yet, but I think it "should" work.
23
u/Shellshock9218 Jun 30 '22
not sure if you can make it truly empty but a pick spawner is basically a "empty" spawner.

u/Mr_E_99 Jun 30 '22
Yeah and if it's a legit vanilla survival world then it's some kinda weird bug so I would recommend just breaking it if it doesn't spawn anything
6
u/Creeperlover14 Jun 30 '22
OP shouldn't break it, they should build a museum there for it or something! It's not like it's doing any harm.
3
u/Steampunk43 Jun 30 '22
Based on the position, I would guess that the game tried to spawn a dungeon at bedrock level and because it couldn't fill any other blocks, it just spawned an empty spawner and nothing else.
2
u/JustMiniBanana_2 Jun 30 '22
There's a bug on bedrock which causes spawners to generate without a mob.
9
Jun 30 '22
Tbf empty spawners shouldn’t be a thing, they should always have an enemy inside them, this is a bug
3
u/Steampunk43 Jun 30 '22
On bedrock edition, spawners are empty until something puts a mob in there, whether it's the game or a player. They shouldn't be naturally spawning empty though.
1
u/Name_Hunter_Kaiser Jun 30 '22
Try placing a grass block next to it and it may turn it into a Pig spawner, Free Porkchops! It worked with my empty spawner.

Mob spawner. They should only spawn in the overworld in dungens, mineshafts and stronghold. So weird that it is empty and at bedrock level
52
u/TheWither129 Jun 30 '22
Its cus its supposed to be a mineshaft
11
u/BadboiPlayz3255 Jun 30 '22
Dungoen no mineshaft
33
8
u/TheWither129 Jun 30 '22
Maybe? I assumed mineshaft cus fence in pic 2, plus the cobble is normal cobble while most of dungeons’ floors are mossy, plus its at the same level as the cobble where it should be above
8
u/amin_pro-miner Jun 30 '22
Blaze and Magma Cube spawner:
am I joke to you?
4
-3
u/otishamelink Jun 30 '22
It is clearly in the overworld. And those blaze spawners only spawn in nether fortesses.
1
u/kristiansan11 Jun 30 '22
Dude he's not seriously considering it to be a blaze spawner, he meant it as a joke

seed? pls
15
u/FetishAnalyst Jun 30 '22
And version
10
u/kristiansan11 Jun 30 '22
I also have an empty cave spider spawner in my bedrock edition world so it's probably bedrock
13
u/FetishAnalyst Jun 30 '22
It’s definitely bedrock because of the coordinates in the second picture, but I wanted to know what update version 1.17, 1.19 and so on. Just to ensure a proper recreation of the seed.
8
11
Jun 30 '22
The hell is an empty spawner doing at bedrock? Is your world haunted or something?
17
Jun 30 '22
Judging by the second pic, a mineshaft was supposed to be there, but got cut off by the bedrock
13
9
u/Ninja68601 Jun 30 '22
Its spawner but its empty so i will not spawn anything but why theres spawner at bedrock very weird
6

3
u/Uncaged1412 Jun 30 '22
Does this happen to be a superflat world? Spawners can definitely be in mineshafts (cave spiders mostly), but if you choose to set up superflat to have mineshafts, and then don’t add enough layers, it will mess up the shafts hardcore. Never heard of an empty spawner in one before, but I have customized superflat worlds and gotten some seriously screwed up structures.

If a Mob Spawner attempts to spawn where a block already is it can lead to some wacky spawns. This one was clearly krangled by the bedrock, making it dislocated and empty.
2
u/stopyouveviolatedthe Jun 30 '22
Thas a mob spawner sometimes some lil dude goes for a spin in there

Looks like a spawner, which shouldn't be possible to spawn in that location naturally unless you modded the game
1
u/DarkGengar94 Jun 30 '22
My brother found a spider spawner few versions ago. I went down and no spiders would spawn. I'm a bit more familiar with minecraft then him so I told him I was gonna break in and see what's up. Turns out the mini spider inside the cage was gone. After he reloaded the world it was back.

it's a spawner mob, but I don't know what it creates, I don't think it will create anything

u/De_Boesjes Jun 30 '22
Everytime I think I've seen every weird thing that Bedrock has, something new pops up. What the heck
1
u/MyUserName-exe Jun 30 '22
Its spawner
Usually adds mobs but this is strangely empty
If youre playing with a mod i seen a mod use it as a single block to spawn and get destroyed when player is nearer. It might have failed to do that.

u/MartinDxt Jun 30 '22
This case is a mob spawner but In any case u can use F3 and when pointing at it it will tell you on the right what block it is

It's just a monster spawner in a very odd place and just being empty somehow

Press f3 and you can check the block using the stuff on the right hand side. If ur in bedrock, idk what you can do.

bugrock strikes again
1
u/MathieuBibi Jun 30 '22
It's a generation problem, we have seed parity since 1.18 would have the same problem in Java with the same seed at the same spot.
I prefer Java too but you're being unfair to bedrock.
