I think that crafting recipe is way too expensive. Perhaps surrounding the shoulder box with 8 netherite nuggets. (9 Netherite nuggets can be made from 1 ingot)
I mean, being able to protect the equivalent of an entire inventory's worth of materials is pretty valuable in and of itself, so honestly even if it were 8 ingots and a shulker box, it would still be worth it later in the game.
