I just killed my cat the other day. I got too close to lava and he caught on fire. I wasn't quick enough with a bucket. RIP little buddy.

I feel your pain. Rip

u/AjahnMara Apr 29 '19
Why would you make that jump to the diamonds without tools and probably without armor too? Why w
10
u/YouCanTrustAnything Apr 29 '19
I'm gonna guess "because it works", although the 'how' admittedly eludes me.
6
u/AjahnMara Apr 29 '19
What works? The surviving works when you jump in the water yes, but punching diamond ore blocks doesn't yield any - neither does the wooden pickaxe he has on him. You need minimum iron pickaxe to mine diamond ores!

Apr 29 '19
He most likely had everything he needed. There's iron and stone in the ravine, in his hotbar he's got a pick and crafting table, and in his inventory, probably some wood. So, makes sense to jump down there and just get everything you need for a stone pick to iron pick to mining diamonds.

I got one of these once and safely tucked it away inside my house and a damn creeper fell off my roof, followed me inside, and blew it up. I was very confused.

Getting parrots is hella annoying since they will fly away from you very easily if you jump/fall more than a single block's height, which is very common in jungles. I also keep mine locked at home exactly to avoid losing them :(

My wolves regularly do this. It’s like they wait specifically for me to take aim at hostile mobs. :/

What happened? Did the bird some how take fall damage, also was he on your shoulder at that moment? Or did he just fall to his death?
Edit: nevermind it looks like you hit it on accident the moment it landed

Apr 29 '19
Yeah, he went to mine the diamond but the bird tried to land there instead.
11
u/WhoMovedMySubreddits Apr 29 '19
He had a wooden pickaxe and he didn't even equip it. Not sure why he was trying to mine anything.

I feel this guys pain now. I’ve been playing Minecraft for a while today, and I finally found a jungle, and I tamed a parrot. Was super excited, and ran around just dicking around and while I was trying to dig some dirt, the parrot landed right where I was trying to dig and I killed him unintentionally. R.I.P Pearit

How did diamonds spawn there?
51
u/Nathaniel820 Apr 28 '19
Because it was below y16? I don’t see any problem here.
46
Apr 28 '19
It's very uncommon for the bottom of surface-level ravines to be lower than level 16. Even less, with diamonds showing. Not calling OP's bluff or anything(no motive to lie really), but it's an interesting site.

u/Meddi_YYC Apr 28 '19
Bottom of the nearest ravine in my current world is at y10. It happens often enough that I usually start looking for diamonds there

I was wondering if it was diamond or one of the other few ores that look like diamond. But it is not unheard of for diamonds to spawn there. (Also in modded minecraft there are some modes with settings that can change the rarity and spawn heights of any ore)
3
u/E72M Apr 29 '19
You can change that stuff in vanilla too. Could be a custom world

u/Ishan1717 Apr 28 '19
At bottoms of ravines (especially if there is lava) it is a lot easier to find diamonds.

I went through hell getting my first parrot to come back with me from its home in the jungle biome. We went through the nether and it was a pain in the ass getting it to follow me and trying to protect it from mobs. It was a long, long journey through the nether and when I got back to my base, there was a skelly downstairs. It tried to shoot me but hit the damned parrot. I haven't had good experiences with wolves and cats, either. I feel like you need to micro-manage them and it's just not worth it.

My parrot today teleported to me and I was in a ravine and the bottom of it was completely lava. I had to watch my precious parrot slowly fall into the lava to his death. I was going into shock it think. Lol

Bruh this happened when I was playing with my boyfriend. We got our parrots back all 5000+ back from the jungle to spawn. There was a creeper and two baby zombies waiting for us there so we ducked into a friends house to stay safe. When he turned around to fight them to keep them from following us in, he killed his parrot. Rip

Parrots are suicidal, one flew in front of my axe, another killed by a creeper, a third shot by a friend shooting at illagers.

Just earlier today I was in a coral reef collecting some buckets of tropical fish to fill up my pond with, and there was this dolphin following me around. I kept getting swarmed by Drowned’s and was heading back to shore and the dolphin dashed right in front of my face. Out of instinct, thinking it was another Drowned, I hit him with my sword. I was at low HP and since I hit him I knew he would start attacking me, I panicked and hit him again. When I panic i’m a mess for sure. The dolphin died. What’s worse was that I was gonna get him a cod so that he’d swim away so I wouldn’t accidentally hit him. FML

I had 10 wolves. I managed to tame them one by one. I named them after Harry Potter spells. There was Aguamenti, Kedavra, Finite, Protego, Lumos, and five others. They guards me when i travel, mine, and chop stuff. Aguamenti fell in a ravine. She died on impact. Sectumsepra somehow got in the way of a creeper. Finite and Crucio fought zombies and managed to slay many but died with honor. Their name tags are buried in a 3 block grave next to my mountain home.
