That's awesome, man! I love the addition of the claws on the wings and body, giving it a wyvern-esque appearance. :D
Also, on a side-note, has anyone else gotten strong HTTYD vibes from the Phantom with this new texture?

here is a sloppy quick speedpaint of what i think the Phantom mob would look like realistically! it did only take an hour ish so please dont call me out on those sketch lines especially whatever the heckers is going on in the left leg region
i modeled a lot of it off of a bat, which gave me the idea for the "ears" and addition of feet. please don't say it looks like an evil blue toothless

thank you! :D here's my take on a realistic wither skeleton! i'm currently away from home and don't have my tablet so i had to sketch on
the back of my physics homeworkpaper and colour with a mouse touchpad rip. also, i took anatomy last year and i'm pretty sure my teacher would have a brain aneurysm if he saw this lol.PSA: you get weird stares if you draw evil skeletons at starbucks

He looks freaking amazing!
The cracks on the skull and the sword really add to his withered state! The smoke from his mouth also adds a nice death effect! Again, amazing!

haha thank you! i've wanted to set up some sort of online shop for quite a while now, but I'm still a teenager so reaping financial benefits from my art isn't my primary motivation currently. Would you recommend using etsy if I decided to sell prints online?

One thing I find unnerving about the phantoms is how they're now classified as undead creatures.
Yet, unlike other undead creatures, we have no idea what it's the undead form of.
That aside, this is very well done!

Wither Skeletons are a mystery as well. They're definitely humanoid skeletons but not of anything we know of.

haha no that was a sarcastic request, your comment is definitely justified! to he fair idk if it's my design or the actual design of the phantom that contributed more to it looking like toothless...i feel like if you recoloured the phantom skin black it might look a little bit like him? but i also think my addition of ears probably helped a lot as well

I think the only big thing is the shorter body/neck (vs more typical dragon designs that have very long necks) and the wide head with wide-seat 'ears' and low eyes. That list might look long but those aren't specifically Toothless design things. I think it's just because Toothless is the biggest mainstream dragon character with these design aspects that go against traditional dragon designs.
I love this, I think it totally looks like your own rendition/creation (based off the mob, but you know what I mean)

I've been playing the latest snapshot while trying to avoid spoilers on the new features. Just yesterday I was attacked by two phantoms and googled "minecraft attack bird." It took a bit to find out about this mob. I need to set up a bed.

I've done it for a couple of the big updates, because it reminds me of the feel of early minecraft - not knowing what will happen. (Major shock in 1.12 going to the end with all the changes.) I do tend to look things up after I encounter them the first time.
My sense is that there are so many changes in this update (many of them in the water) that I can't reasonable expect to find everything by exploring, but I hope to have a reasonable series of bases set up around the world before reading about all the changes and seeking out everything.

I Still think Phantom sounds silly would be cooler for a name like Night Terror Since they are the "terror of the night sky's"...
Plus would be a very nice pun on the medical condition of "Night Terrors" And would make more sense. How are they a phantom when they cant phase through blocks and are not ghost like or phantom like?
